Defense self buffs

At level 32, I have the +5 def racial trait, plus several self buffs. I can't seem to raise my defense more than 14. I have seen mention of a cap on defense self buffs and I am wondering if somebody can give me a quick answer. Is 14 the cap? Thanks

Seems to be 20 with buffs + as many as 10 more with ogre traits

Now I am home from work I can add some details: Level 32 Guardian, base defense = 162 +5 for Barbarian trait = 167 +9 for Call of Command (says +8 when examined) = 176 Now here is where I am stuck, I use Slates or Dig In and I get no increase in defense! Stuck at +14

Slates also has a +Parry as well, so I keep it running anyway.

Many def buffs don't stack. The Call line stacks with the Do or Die line and thats it as far as self buffs go.
