What is the best way to choose your 'possess essence' target?

+85% of a Coercers possessed essence pet will come from the melee ability called Confound. The other stuff is added based on the class of the mob being possessed and there is a write-up on that over on EQ2wiki. However, if you're talking about how to best select a pet it matter more what it is you're trying to do.

Solo or heroics I prefer to use Charmed pets and only those which are casters; mage or priest work equally the same for DPS. If you're talking about raids, then possess esence is your only option and you'll be lucky to even find one to PE and if you do you'll be even l-u-c-k-i-e-r to get it to live more than one AE cycle
