Launchpad says it's streaming now? News to me

I get this error and if I choose to go for no streaming  it starts to download the whole game again.  Something is very wrong.

Same issue. Background downloading ticked = 14gb. Not ticked constant in zone downloading in mb's.  Game pauses consistently wait for the mb download to finish so unlikley its related to downloading Skyshrine in advance.  Issue occured today after the server quick update last night.

Deleted cache files and ran full game validation

Deleted conf files and redownloaded

checked for a second copy of eq2 = > none

Seems to just want to redownload the game regardless of whether its needed or not.

Very expensive down under where we pay 20 bucks every 10gbs. x4 comps.

I get this same issue, very irritating...Any news on what to do?  I've tried it both ways...I cannot redownload the enitre game because of lack of memory (besides the fact its already on there) and when I try to play with streaming I don't even get to the character screen.  This really needs to be addressed...PLEASE!

I got the same error today.  Logged in this morning, all was fine.  Logged in this afternoon, now it's streaming.

Wouldn't be so bad if it just wanted to stream todays patch. Unfortunately, it wants to stream or download (I've tried it both ways) the ENTIRE games assets/entities.

Same here. I restarted the launcher a couple times and crashed in-game once after that. Now, the launcher just takes its time checking all the files.

Well, I can get into game...but as it is downloading the whole shebang, zoning is endless as it has to download the area for me, and everything sloooow. Why was my entire game deleted from my asset cache file?? Will this happen every time I launch the game? What happened today to cause this? Anybody got any insight here?

If I make a copy of the asset1.vdb (once it finally downloads...probably be done tomorrow) as a backup can I just drop that in to the asset cache file the next time this happens?

Any input is appreciated.

Frustrating. This is now two threads on the subject and I don't see a hurried (harried) dev or coder or other redname saying "Yeah we know about it, working frantically 'cause we don't like it either" type post.... hello? Devs? Anyone?  Cleaning crew?

I won't redownload the game by choosing FULL and enduring that so I am forced to stream. I hate it.

Also: I have not only been having to switch between accts on the dropdown to get the character select tool to show, I have been having issues of /camp charactername sending me to character select instead.  I wonder what they did to the launcher...

Same here.  Though I don't get the error with the launcher itself, just "Up yours!  I'm gonna download everything!"  Running EverQuest2.exe directly produced the error, which I cancelled, and it seems to be working ok.

Side note, aside from this breaking, I had to use IE to sign in.  In Firefox I get sent to page not found.  Using IE damages my soul.

Exactly what happened to me. I clicked "yes" to the box about the full download. Of course I want the full download, as I have for forever. Why my launcher was flipped to streaming (if that's what happened) is a real boggle.

And extremely annoying.

I am getting this same error message today...was fine last night. My EQ2 folder is showing 14+gigs there, why is it not seeing this and trying to re-dl?

I noticed this too. Today I went to download the Test server from launcher and it was...very fast. I downloaded the regular client using full and it took several hours maybe two weeks ago. Today, switching from US Server to Public Test on the launcher I was prepared to wait several more. Got it in about five minutes.

Also: you know how when you download full, you get music files when you search the Sony folder? My music files are all gone, suggesting my game is completely streaming. *cry*

check where the update streams the files to. Some updates have created some really strange behavior. I just had to drop a new launchpad in the eq2 folder since the patch corrupted the old one and it happily created a brandnew folder in a completely different directory and streamed it there.

Ok. I quit the launcher and restarted the game (as normal, via the exe btw), and clicked "cancel" instead, and the game did load normally. Thanks resiler

I managed to get mine working.

My eq2 is not in userspublic.  I suspect the launcher is bugged and only looking in standard places so....

I loaded the bug version and went to game version and made sure full was ticked.  IT then wanted to download 14gb so cancel.

Then download the launcher 4 from the sticky on the forums.  The exe is eq2-setup.exe.

Run it

Choose reinstall

When the option comes up, point it to your EQ2 directory

Confirm the box that comes up that you want to use it.

When it finishes it will launch launcher

I then went to validate game files and let it run

No more dinobot killing me.

I hope this helps others.

tried this, did not work for me.  My eq2 folder is in users/public tho.
