I'm having a hard time understanding warder dps vs their hitpoints.

I parsed my mystical pet on a training dummy and I get 8.4k dps. He has 35k HP and rarely dies in raid.

I then parsed my dire pet, he does 9.4k yet he only has 22k HP and dies so much I can hardly use him in raids.

So then my question is, why does dire have 12k (37%) less hitpoints but only 1k more DPS? Can we get these things balanced a little better so we actully have some choices of what warder to use? It'd be cool to have to make a choice based on the current situation. But right now there isn't much reason to choose an offensive pet over a defensive, even if your goal is dps.
