More specifically Freeport / Bazaar. My motto is the more the merrier.

However watching the server status, Freeport is full most of the day, maybe except for a couple of hours late night/early morning US/noon euro time... surely there are servers out there that need an infusion more than the one with the highest pop activity?

Because "Vets" would whine like little girls if Bazaar was merged with one of their precious "pure" servers and it needs more people, thus it gets merged with Freeport.

yes, bazaar was live gamer (i.e., bought characters).  it's the most logical choice.  it used to be the only way off bazaar was character copy to freeport.  before that, once on bazaar, stuck on bazaar.  like arcticwind said, freeport was likely chosen to prevent complaints abt the influx of bought characters.

I expect the call has to do with broad similarity in server culture between the two.  Bazaar and Freeport players are both more accustomed to microtransactions than players on the old Live servers are.  It makes perfect sense to me.

You mean officially accustomed to it.  The other servers were much more unofficially accustomed to... other forms of transactions.

You mean a group of vets like myself who have put in well over $1400 into this game over the years which have let it last this long shouldn't come back and play? I mean really? How about the vets have actually seen this game when it was in a better state so they want to fight to have it the way it was

Both are right. There are such and such vets

Its impossible to tell people how the game was when guilds with 400 ppl competed for the server first guild level 60 ding. When players stacked inside and outside of Runnyeye and the lag was incredible. When the HoF platform was crowded on a saturday evening so ppl almost fell down. Thats not how Freeport is today...

A lot happened since then. Many, way to many good friends are gone. Thats why some vets are a bit grumpy after all. Especially since many of those gone warned SOE over and over again. /growl

I think I at least kind of qualify as a vet.  I think in some instances vets are demanding more than they should and in some instances 'newer' players are trying to cut them down over much.  I think keeping the vet rewards going all the way back to the beginning was a good idea (as I said on that thread), but I can see what you're saying about the purists complaining about mixing the population.  Vets are just like any other players.  Some are reasonable people who understand that if they want to keep playing, they have to accept the new direction that SOE is taking EQ2, and some are whiney brats.  I will say, though, the same can be said for the old EQ2X community.  I remember countless threads on the old EQ2X boards about how Free/Silver players should get this and that, and for 1000 SC there should be a perminant broker unlocker, and all kinds of (imo) outlandish requests/demands.  In the end, there are some people that find what SOE's doing here reasonable and are on board, and there are some that feel they are entitled to more than I think is reasonable for whatever reasons no matter if they're a 'vet' or not.

/shrug/ It's a mixed bag on both sides.

OK, so the reason is both servers being accustomed to microtransactions.

Case is, so will all the other servers be soon enough wether or not they are kicking and screaming for the occasion.

I do not mind getting more people on Freeport, having a live server is great. So that is not the problem imho, unless it will start causing lag issues.

But looking at the server status throughout a day, there is other servers who will benefit more from an infusion of players. Freeport works great already.

Maybe I am missing some points in who is RP/PVP/PVE/other language, that makes the most populated server the ideal choice for more people.

It doesn't matter what makes sense. All you have to do is read the posts from many "vets" and you will understand why SOE would be stupid to merge the Bazaar with any other server. It's not worth the headaches and whining that would come from merging that server with any of the "pure" servers.

Wow some of you newish types have some attitude towards those of us that have been here for years.

Is this what we can now expect after F2P implimentation?

Is this how you treat people on Freeport?

There is nothing newish about me, I've been hear every bit as long as you and any other so-called Vet. I just choose not to associate myself with you guys because most of these "vets" bring nothing to the table but whining and negativity.

As for how we treat people on Freeport, better than most. Of course, over the past year the community on Freeport haven't acted like spoiled children and generally have a better attitude about the game than people the live servers, which is one of the reason I moved to the Freeport server.

Do you deny that if the Bazaar were merged with a former Live server that total chaos wouldn't break out with "vets" throwing temper tantrums and threatening to leave? Like I said, read the forums and the average live gamers attitudes about EQ2x and the F2P model and you will get your answer.

It is. Mostly the server that is extremely high status whilst even AB is only high.

But the Live people hate the thought of those who bought their toons and they hate the thought of people playing free.

SOE have made a bad mistake thinking they can appease the live players by doing it this way, sweeping it under the carpet, rather than merging Bazaar with a server that actually needs the number they can merge the toons who bought their 90s with the toons who payed to win and everyone will be happy.
