Good morning!

I am having a strange issue....whenever I try to preview any of the E-Day items in the dressing room window, it gives me the message 'You may need to repatch in order to view this item' or even when I have received an E-Day quest item reward and I have it in inventory, it will not let me right click and place the item in the hall...or basically do anything at all with it.

I am not sure if this issue might be resolved with the patch today...it is only specific to the E-Day items and I did a complete file and update scan from the Station Launcher about two weeks ago, so, I really do not want to have to sit through another 4-5 hours of it scanning my files.  I have not changed anything with my game...no graphics settings, no hardware changes, no UI changes...nothing at all.

If anyone else has had this issue or knows of any possible resolutions, please advise.  Thank you in advance!

UPDATE: While waiting on a response, I bit the bullet and started the Station Launcher/Patcher and started poking around forums.  I found a post discussing the major issues with the new Launcher versus going back to the original Launcher in the main EQ folder.  I closed out of Station Launcher, which was already and VERY slowly about a half hour into scanning and updating 12G+ worth of files, used the old Launcher (2004) in my main directory and within 45 seconds, it had scanned, patched and I was in game able to view everything fine.

I am beginning to wonder, if perhaps, a majority of crashes and other issues many people seem to be having are because of the Station Launcher (3?), as most of the posters resolved their issues by going back to the original.  This seems to hold weight with me as I have played for quite a long while and only within the last 6 months (since having to reinstall the game and I suppose going over to the new Launcher without realizing it) have I experienced more crashing, errors, glitches, etc than I ever had before.  I read in another post where there is a new Launcher coming.  Hopefully this will address and correct a lot of the issues!

Cheers everyone!  SMILEY

I have this exact same issue using the streaming client. Going to see if I still have my old launcher to test it on. I know station launcher is no longer supported so I switched to the streaming, tells me every time I need to re-patch in order to see the new items.

I tried posting over on the live-event forums, but recieved no answer.

** Update **

I too went back to the regular (ie: 2004) eq2.exe and launched from there rather then the streaming client, now have no issues viewing the Erollisi day items.

Very happy to hear that helped you, as well!

Another happy aside.....since doing this, I no longer have strange graphic glitchings across my screen nor have I experienced the white/black lock-up screens of death crashes a single time since logging in....which is almost unheard of for me as of late.  I can rarely stay logged in for longer than 30 minutes to an hour before crashing and getting the error.....EQ2 Client application has stopped working...and then being booted out to desktop.

Perhaps, this is just a coincidence but a very happy one for me at the moment!  SMILEY

In your cases, had you installed the LaunchPad 3 over your existing EQ2 folder or was it a fresh install?

Mine was installed over top, I wasn't downloading the entire game again, just the streaming launcher directed to my old folder.  I've had no issues at all until the Erollisi Day items were released, and the "you may need to patch to view" error came on both crafted + quested items.

It should be noted that a 2nd member in my household on a completely different computer also has the exact same issue, with the streaming launcher installed over the EQ2 folder - directed them to use the eq2.exe instead of the streaming client, and it fixed the problem for them too.

Running from eq2.exe (launcher 1 I suppose) worked fine. I stopped using launcher 2 (station launcher) when support was cut for it.

This seems to be affecting people who did just like you, installing LP3 over an existing prior method.  While it should function properly this way, in many cases it obviously is not.  At this time, because of the amount of file conversion/updating involved going from a previous method to LP3 , there is not a quick and easy fix.

LP3 has consolidated the invidivual zone/object files in to about 6 or 7 individual packages.  These are located in your asset_cache folder.  If these have become corrupt, deleting the corrupt file and re-downloading it is the method to fix it.  However, these files are very large and we cannot identify which package contains the corruption.

Thank you for the information and response!  Aye, in my case, it was also an update/install over my previously existing files and folders that apparently made things go haywire and be unhappy.

At the moment, everything seems to working great just using the old launcher so I shall just stick with that as my solution until another one becomes available!  SMILEY

I've reported this and will post if I receive any more information on any alternative fixes or solutions.
