Not thinking in the lines if Final Fantasy or Yet to be released Rift, pls hear me out :p

I been lvling my sixth alt and although i been enjoying the leveling the idea of getting a whole new set of items has me feeling really discouraged.  so i was thinking, what if my main toon could be more than one class.  Theres a lot to think about, like is it even possible? if so how will you lvl with all the quests alrdy complete? how and when can you Switch class? So  For starters lets look at how it can be implemented.

Start from the beginning lvl 1.   Say you choose to be a Warden.  At say level 50 a new quest line opens up.  Reward is an alter or something placable item in your house that allows you to switch/choose another class.  So lets say you choose Fury.  You start back at level 1 with your equiptment mentored down to that level.   Fury levels independent from your Warden And you can have up to lets say 3 classes on the same toon.  So in the simplest of terms, you get One Character with access to 3 classes, only one at a time.

Now Even with this there problems to overcome.  What about Experiance? 70 plus game doesnt support Group dungeon Grinding at all.  Only way to get from 70-90 is through quests.  That will lead to a problem.  What about AA.  Since your second and third class start at lvl 1, does your AA?  If so things will need to be changed since the game as a whole only supports enough named/quests to get 1 class/character max AA.

Some technical problems include the actual switching classes.  Game will have to save your hotbars, or give us more hotbars but black out the other classes when not in use? what about amount of classes, 3 sounds good but would more be better? 5? 6?  And is it possible to be a mage priest and say fighter?  And what about the alts you alrdy have, if implemented can we take excisting alts, request there class lvl and AA be combined with another character?

What will this accomplish?  Well for starters, I think less data per account.  One toon, multiple classes still means 1 bank, 1 house, 1 set of data instead of more.  Some ppl dont like the concept of alts, this gives further progression paths beyond whats alrdy there.  Which hopefully provides further replayablility, especially at the lower tiers.  Grp or raid need a class? Well someone can still play there main toon and level the needed class, player can more easily switch classes based on grp or raid needs but still get something worthwhile for there main toon.

So what do you all think??

No thanks. That would mean more data per account, since each character could have several different classes, people would still use up their alt slots.

But with the change recently announced, you will be able to swap to the other subclass of a given class (ie from warden to fury) but keep your old warden masters if you want to switch back. That's probably about as close to what you're asking we'll see in EQ2, thankfully.
