Hi, I just got the game yesterday and i'm interested in playing both dirge and defiler.

The problem is I keep reading and hearing everywhere these are mediocre solo classes and finding groups at low-mid levels is hard nowadays. Also one thing I can't stand even at max level is logging into a game and throwing up LFG and then just sitting waiting for an invite because I can't solo. I made this mistake years ago in EQ1 with a monk as my main class and inevitably quit the game after waaaay too long playing it for that very reason. I don't have the time I used to have anymore to devote to gaming and every minute I play I want to spend accomplishing something, if I can't I won't last.

So this brings me to considering one of the strong solo classes instead of dirge or defiler, leveling that char up to max level and learning the game, joining a good guild, finding people to play with etc and then just power-leveling my main char choice up to the end-game later on since i'll have options like mentoring and twinking available to me. Would this be a good idea or should I just attempt to grind it out on more group oriented char? If so what classes would you recommend as the strongest soloers? I hear necros are good but I have no interest in that class.

Thank you

If you want to solo, these classes are not for you.

While they 'can' solo, in the manner that any class can solo, they are easily among the worst in the game at it.

Any class can solo well thanks to how dumbed down the solo content is. The only difference between classes is how long it takes to kill the monsters.

While I appreciate the replies they just told me what I already know and did not answer my questions.

Why not play both and decide which one you enjoy most? You have 7 character slots.. 12 if you chose the Station Pass.

It really depends what you want to solo, Imo any class can solo as long as you know the class and its limits. Obviously the better your gear and spells the easier it is. I soloed a lot on my dirge and it wasn't always easy but it's do-able. (evac ftw!)

If you got to max level on either Dirge or Defiler and couldn't get groups I'd be very surprised. They are both very sought after classes.

Easier healers to solo would have to be an inquisitor or a fury, but I don't think they're half as good a healer as Defiler end game. Necro's are easy to solo but they're not so wanted in groups, Bruisers and Monks are great solo but same.

I wouldn't pick a class based on their soloing abilities. Just roll the class you want to play and learn to solo it. Your best bet really is joining a guild that's populated in the times you play and not waiting for groups, but starting them.

No reason to be passive and just throw up your LFG tag. Get proactive and start putting groups together yourself. You may be surprised how many people are waiting for someone else to start a group.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

dirges and defilers are some of the most wanted classes for groups.
