Hi, just like to let you know i'm pretty impressed with the quality and performance of the new GPU shadow system.

My one slight query- and it is slight, as it involves a situation I rarely encounter on a PvP server and don't play at the highest graphics settings... well, ever- is that the quality of the shadows seems blocky even at the highest overall graphics settings, causing a sort of shimmering effect as I move. Is this a hardware issue, a noob user issue, or something else?

I've linked a sample here:

I also get the same effect with shimmering when I move.  It was not present when they were being tested during LU51.

I get shimmering and even flickering effects.Shadows are softer but I don't like these effects.

Video card is Nvidia 8600 GT with integrated RAMDAC and 512 mb mem on it. PC has 1 gig mem.

I get a bit of flickering, but only in flight.  Overall I like the shadows better than the CPU shadows, especially on ground textures.  Run silky smooth on high.  Card is a 9500 GT

I've been experencing the same effect all over the world, overall I like the GPU shadows better than the CPU ones tho, just waiting on the time when torches will cast GPU shadows.

(Edit; might wanna know the video card; Nvidia GeForce 260 GTX w/835mb vram x2 in SLI mode, using Nvidia driver version 182.50 might update to 185 and see if it dosen't iron out)

FYI, 8800GTS 640Mb (old series) with 185.85 drivers.

Most people in the thread so far seem to have Nvidia, any ATI user feedback?

As I said above same effect here to the point of unplayable with GPU shadows on, thought I better mention the card and drivers.

Geforce 260 GTX 216 with 1786Mb mem, 185.85 drivers.

these are comming this update right? i play with shadows off currently becuase they are physicaly incorrect and the shadows on test make the game much more visualy appealing.. good work to whomever fixed them.

I notice quite a bit of shimmering especially while my character is in motion.

One other thing I notice is when my character is in a slightly shaded are (where it's not actually casting a shadow) there is a very thin white outline around my toon and any npcs in the area.

I like the softer shadows, but if the studdering/shimmering isn't fixable I won't be using them

My card is a Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT.  All drivers are up to date.
