more then likely a firewall issue. You don;t mention which you use, but you will need to authorize the program at teh firewall - if you are using the old launcher it is eq2.exe and everquest2.exe

![]() I am getting this too. However this is not normal - I usually login fine. There must be an error which is not your end.

![]() I have the same problem. Apparently they're doing a system maintenance downtime for 5 hours. |

![]() " From 9:00 AM PDT until 1:00 PM PDT on Monday, April 27, 2009, all of the SOE services and games will be undergoing maintenance and will be unavailable. This might also cause some forum accounts to temporarily lose permissions, due to the inability to verify account status while the maintenance is taking place. This is only temporary and normal permissions will return automatically once the maintenance is complete. We apologize for this interruption and will resume all affected services as soon as the maintenance is completed." (taken from another thread in this forum) |

there is posted maintence today (04/27), the OP's problem was reported on 04/25. It is a new install, major chance it is a misconfigured firewall behidn the problem

This is correct. If it's not a firewall issue then the router would be the next most likely culprit. You might want to try bypassing your router so that your computer is plugged directly into the modem. That will tell us whether or not it is being caused by a blocked port.
