Many, many months ago I had a Ratonga Brigand. I thought to myself, "I don't like being this kind of person. I'm not evil." So I took the time (a lot of time, in fact) to betray. And to my delight, I was a swashy! Yay!Now as I said before, that was awhile ago. I quit because the community on AB was starting to [Removed for Content] me off. Now I've come back and I've seem to have forgotten how well Swashies can solo. Can anyone help me out? I also wanted to know how I should spec for soloing. Thanks <3

Swashy's solo great. My example is that I just solo'd a swashy to 80 by questing a lot (for the APs) in about 10 days of played time. I never met a solo quest I could not do easily on my own. I found I could tank in 2 or 3-man groups fairly well when you have some ^^^ boss step on a quest. There may be other classes that are described as better solo classes, but swashy more than met my needs. I had no downtime, and could track down (and stealth to) any mob I needed.
  • Swashys kill grops of mobs very well once you get hurricane. Swashys are ok killing groups at lower levels, but hurricane really steps it up a notch.
  • Swashys can chain kill solo mobs, never needing to stop for power nor health. The little delay to run to the next mob is all you need.
  • Swashys are awsome at cherry-picking just the mob you need for a quest or to grab a named. Tracking, stealth, good escape skills, and mez let you grab what you want in difficult spots.
  • Swashys kill ^ named mobs with ease, multiple levels above your level. The combination of stuns, knockdown, mez, walk-the-plank, interupts, slows (for kiting), reach, offensive debuffs, and consistently good DPS make you a terror against anything intended to be killed solo. These same reasons make you good in 2-3man groups.

Thanks SMILEY I still need to know a good spec. I'm pretty sure I should go AGI for WTP and I like the title at the end SMILEY

Im new myself but recently had to search through the forums to decide on AA's for my own Swashie so i will try to give you an answer anyway. A lot of people will recommend you to first get the "Walk the plank" ability from AGI but stop when you have one point in it. The important thing is to be able to turn the mobs. Once you have one point in Walk the plank go Strength line and max out the criticals. Then you have a bunch of interesting choices to make. A lot of high level swashies will tell you that the whole feign death line sucks. Im not so convinced as 100% working FD is very useful for soloing (run into quiet corner, FD and you are past all the annoying guards and can get to the boss, quest item or whatever) and preventing wipes when you are in groups without monks.Personally i really like the looks of the wisdom line. I havent really had the chance to try it out properly though. I went for the pirate title first thing (more due to the title than the actual powers even though they are nice as well) and now im going for Wisdom, skipping strength for now. Im sure theres plenty of people around that can show you with raw numbers how strength completely owns the other lines for DPS and general coolness but for me i chose the extra double attacks to complement the ones from the AGI line to make all my poisons, buffs etc more effective. And also i didnt want to pick str because thats what 'everyone' told me to go for SMILEY My prefered solo setup would probably be "walk the plank", then Strength and then feign death. A lot of people will disagree though.

The big problem with the Int line is that other than boot dagger (the turn to stealth + small damage hit) ability, the line does not help DPS or stuns. The way a swashy survives solo is by out damaging the opponent, and stuns/knockdown/interupts. This is why so many people recomend against it. Had Sony put an extra damage-increasing something in the line, many more would consider choosing it. It is hard to turn a blind eye to +melee crit, +offesive abilities, damage procs, +double attack, and a variety of defense increasing abilities. As far as the usefulness of feigh death, it is nice but 99.5% uneccesary. There were probably 3-5 quests out of 1200+ solo quests I completed that feign death would have benefited me more than in a minor way. You can stealth past most solo mobs, and can tatically kill the one or two see-stealth mobs in the way. Death penalties are nothing in EQ2, other than wasted time. So the minor benefit there is mitigated by the increased survivability through killing power of the other AP lines.
