Title says it all.  The more and more I lead my raids or groups for that matter, I keep thinking to myself "Wouldn't it be nice if the leader has some special AA's for whatever purpose??".  I'm not thinking too much, just a little to let people take the initiative and maybe lead a group or raid and give the leaders a little payback for their efforts.

I thought perhaps some of the group leaders AA's could consist of maybe a small XP bonus, maybe a 1 hour recast "Call of the Group" to wherever the leader is or perhaps that leader can even get some special AA's to help in combat like AoE prevention or some nice group buffs like doing more dmg or debuffings mobs etc.

Please note this isn't a spin off from the other post about dev's helping raids to get going, this is more a payoff to al lthe people that start groups / raids all the times and don't get much back for it accept maybe an item er two, which is fine payoff but alot of times these people are the people that start the groups / raids most of the time and don't have anything to show for it.

The potential of it is unlimited, maybe even leader combat aa's based on race and class for example a group leader that is a Barbarian berzerker could have some nice group dmg buffs or maybe an assassin or ranger leader could "mark" their target making their group members able to hit it really hard or the like.  I know in theory some of these classes can already do some of these things, however if you thought about it, if an Ogre Guardian were leading an expidition, I'm sure he'd let loose a few battlecries (perhaps an adhrenalin rush making you attack/run faster for a few seconds?) or the like...

What do you think?

They have this in EQL.  I like it and dislike it at the same time.  I like it because it is a incentive to group up.  But I dislike it because everyone is gonna vote for themselves to be "king".

I liked the bonuses and buffs that raid/group leader's AA brought in EQ.  I could live without them though because it seemed to be a grind.  I got a few but never focused on them.  It could be a cool addition to the game but people tend to think the group leader role was important.  I just think they need to keep the group full and give some direction.  I'm not sure I'd want a situation where people didn't want to join my group because I could have low leader AA's.  I don't really remember that being the case in EQ but it seemed like we had pretty consistent group/raid leaders in my guild and, on VZ, I didn't group out of my guild because we were a KoS evilish guild and most weren't.

I didn't like this in EQ1, because people fought over being the group leader.  But the person that led the group was frequently not the group leader.  So the person that earned the reward wasn't the one that was rewarded.  Worked fine with friends, we chose someone to get the xp to build it up quickly for our regular group, but with pickup groups it stunk.

Yep it would be nice, but problem is when I was playing eq1 I cannot remember how many times someone would join and say "give me leadership or I am gone" I was lucky that I was the cleric, but I many times it was the healer or the tank that always said that.

A Raid leader, I would be ok with them getting some kind of reward for their hard work. A group leader? No. What do group leaders really do in pick up groups? Not a whole lot... 85% of the time the Tank is doing everything and if the tank isn't the group leader and some back of the pack single button pusher is... then that isn't really fair. Being a tank I always feel I'm the one that has to make all the decisions, not my group leader. Otherwise we normally just end up sitting there doing nothing or moving very slowly.

I loved the group/leadership system in EQ1. The difference between raid and group leadership was that the buffs were raidwide instead of groupwide. The buffs were pretty nice - not game breaking, but definately nice. Stuff like mana and health regen, and useful targetting stuff.

The guild I was in was very good with assigning leadership during raids. Once one raid leader had all the points, they would assign another officer the leadership role until all the officers were good. Group leadership was given to officers or key raiders. Once all the group points were achieved by a key player, someone else was assigned for leadership. After about 3 months of hardcore raiding, half the guild had full group leadership abilities.

Once I completed my leadership, I would always let others get points, but I do recall being made leader many times just so the group can use my buffs even though it meant no one was benefitting from leadership experience. I also recall one person gettting leadership over another just because they had more points that the group could use.

This system did tend to favor the haves over the have-nots as the group would rather someone with more points be the leader. Still, I'd love to see it implemented in EQ2.

AA's can be achieved by anyone. How does that prove your ability as a group or raid leader? I like the result you are suggesting but the method to get there should be different IMO.

Perhaps quest training that teaches you how to be a good group/raid leader and associated quests (maybe some timed ones) to prove those skills would provide the rewards you mentioned to you.
