I've read a ton of info on the boards here and in other places to try and prepare me for eq2 pvp.  I'm new to the game and played just a few low level guys on pve servers (may keep one of them) but wanted to try out the pvp thing.  I still need a lot of help and advice but I'm getting there.  My Assassin is level 8 and just finished the outpost starting area, here is what I think I know, please advise if you have time.

 1.  I was planning on locking my xp now, and going to TD to start grey quests and go from there.  Is it ideal to lock at 8 even though I won't get AA's till 10?  Or do I wait till 10 to lock?

2.  Do I need to mastercraft my own items and therefor make myself an armorer?  How important is it to have the top mastercraft gear I can get every 10 levels?  I don't know what tradeskill to get and I don't have any high level guys to supply money.  Guilds or others may help me but I want to help myself if I can't find anyone to.

3.  I haven't pvp'd anybody yet since I don't think quey are allowed in the starting area I was in.  How many levels above me can people start attacking me?  Can they see through my stealth pretty easy?

4.  I heard you get xp for killing in pvp, is this true?  Is it a lot?

5.  Someone sent me a great Assasin guide to AA's so I'm very thankful of that, mostly goes down STR and INT.  Any other advice is always appreciated.

Thanks guys, I'm particularly concerned with points 1 and 2 the most.  I don't know how to best lock and get the most AA's (at 8 or 10) and definately don't know what would be most beneficial to me for crafting.

  1. wait till 10 to lock, if you are gonna lock at all. SMILEY
  2. its cheaper to make your own gear, especially in the higher tiers. armorers is not a very fun grind though.
  3. You cant pvp until you are lvl 10. also, in the newbie areas, there is a 4 lvl range. After that, you will hit zones with 10 lvl ranges, and then 10 lvl ranges, and after that, its unlimited.
  4. in the lower levels, it is a lot. In the higher levels, you dont even notice it.
  5. hehe. SMILEY

Is your point 1 saying you don't think I should lock at all?  I'm not really a fan of leveling up slower but the way everyone talks on the boards it seemed mandatory to not get your butt kicked?  FYI I will be soloing a lot unless I find some steady teamates that like to play from 9:30 pacific time on.  I would actually love not to lock I just thought I was gonna get crushed for not doing so.

For point 2 is armorer a good choice then or should I do something else that could be useful and make money instead?

don't know what champ before 30 means lol but sounds good, so maybe I don't need to lock anymore?

Anyone else on the tradeskill choice?  Thanks all.
