I am recently Returning from WoW... Not because I like EQ2 more than WoW its about equal actually, but because I want to play with my IRL friends who all play EQ2. So my freinds convinced me to get Echoes of Faydwer and I decided that since I spent $40 I was gonna roll a fae. Before I left for WoW I was playing a Karren Bruiser so I decided to roll a Fae monk. My friend got on and started ranting about how Fae are only good as casters, and if I wanna play a monk I should roll Kerran... So he convinced me to re-roll an Illusionist. I want to start a Fae Monk, level in my free time, and suprise all my IRL friends that *Gasp* Its not only a caster race! But first I have to know... Are Fae monks bad like my friend says, or was he over-reacting?

![]() This game is made so all races can be all classes, and anybody who says that a race is only god for one type of class doesn't know this game very well. The base ability scores are so close that there's no real difference after lvling and equipping, and the racial traits dont really favor any specific classes. Your friends, who seem to be saying that you have to be kerran if you want to be a monk, don't seem to know what they are talking about. Personally, I dislike the idea of a fae monk because imo a fae doesnt have the reach or maneuverability to be a kicking and punching machine... but that has nothing to do with the technical aspect of the game, just a roleplaying quirk i believe. I've seen troll mages, despite them being the dumbest of the playable races, and anything can be played well. |

![]() My new "main" is a Fae monk. I'm 70 w/100 AA and well on my way to being full raid geared. They work very well as a monk. People seem to forget that the small bonuses races get in some stats are meaningless by even the 30s much less the end game. ANY race can excel at any class they are allowed to become. |

I would think fae monks fit anyways due to in combat movement speed and fly. |

I think it fits. Fae are small and quick, and wings would give some interesting martial arts moves, from divebombing an opponent to wing buffets in the face.
