The below situations happens quite a bit and it gets very frustrating. I really don't believe things are working as inteneded but then again I may be wrong. Anyway here is my problem:

PoF Cyclops camp, I am currently assisting the Tank as is my pet. during the fight, I click on a mob way in the distance. Then I hit my /assist key again and continue with the nuking etc and my pet never left that initial mob the tank was on..

The mob at hand dies but still have 2 mobs in that encounter to kill.. I never told the pet to attack the mob I had selected previously but guess what.. he makes a mad dash to that mob when I NEVER hit the attack/assist key. I have to tell him to back off then put him back on the tanks current target.

Also, I never got hit by that mob I previously targeted.. not once.

I don't think that is intended is it?

I have noticed guildies who have an assist key complaining it is not working as intended and does some borky targetting.

IN this game I have not really found a need for the assist key and just use target through the tank.  You want have those issues.

Not sure why the /assist commands acts the way it does sometimes.

But by targeting through the tank, if the tank has to taunt adds (I know I have a 60 Guard) or whatever, My pet will follow him vice staying on the original target. That is especially bad when there is alot of mezzing going on.

On my Guard I have a hotkey setup that basically tells the group that I am cycling through adds to build aggro and to please STAY on the current target. Once Aggro is sufficient, I go back to my initial target but alot of tanks don't give fair warning and just start cycling through adds.

I set up the /assist hot key so its only one time I hit key vice two.. more for convneience really but I don't believe the pet should be attacking that way with the way I have the hotkey setup currently.

Appreaciate the reply though. I have /bugged it but ofcourse we get no status on those as they don't reply to them.

Could an AoE by 1 of the mobs in the encounter be causing this.  We've had this issue in a couple raids lately and it's been a single mob encounter both time.

If your pet is set to protect yourself or protect himself... once the target is dead if you or the pet has been damaged in the battle it will immediately attack the next target. On all raids or in group, I hit back off button to take off both of those and just have to send the pet in after every kill

Steelhart, I doubt it as the mob I targeted that was far away never attacked me as I never attacked it. I just hit the /assist key so I could continue nuking the current target the tank (And pet) were killing.

This is not the case. The mob I targeted was way across the area and  in no way did I get aggro from it. I simply clicked the mob to see its name then hit the /assist key to continue nuking the current target my group was killing. Once that mob died, the pet takes off after the last selected target even though I no longer had it selected nor did I tell the pet to attack it. The Tank started killing the next mob in the group encounter but my pet takes off after the mob I had previously selected. Again I never told the pet to attack nor was that mob my current target.
