Ok, I'll admit I find most of the features on the characters an improvement. Acrossed the board though, the rear ends on all the females look TERRIBLE. They are HUGE. Give us a slider at least. The female gnomes noses need to be allowed to be made smaller or less "hook" like. Breast sizes (female) need some tweaking or a slider fellas. -Just chiming in-

Agreed. Just look at the Erudite females. Nothing says "silicone" like a pair of bowling balls. Oh, and arm length. Look at the length of some of those arms!

I am still anti-soga.

The only complaint I have about male SOGA models is NPC's that look japanese who's voices do not match... such as the very first NPC who you speak to in the game, Captain Varlos.

Female SOGA models are terrible! They all look like inflatable love dolls!

Both male and female SOGA models have terrble armor skinning and extreme clipping problems, especially when it comes to animated cloth. I'm sure most of it will be cleared up by the time it goes live, but my question is "Aren't they already live in Japan?"

I predict there will be an initial excitement about SOGA for a few weeks after it goes live, then people will realise the original models look much better than SOGA, and fit much better into the world.

Yeah the female bottoms do appear to be a bit on the bubble butt side.
I think it could just be the ugly sack we start off in though?
I looked at the guards in armor on the newb isle and their bums didn't look all that big. *shrugs*
The models definetly need some tweaking. Like the way armor fits... hopefully it all gets worked out though so those who do like the models will be able to enjoy them more.

Sure, you can turn it off so YOU don't see it, but everyone who wants to can see a character that you didn't choose for them to see. Without the SOGA modles, *I* chose what everyone will see me like. Now, they get to pick how they see me. One of the characters I have a tough looking female halfling bruiser. Guess what she gets to look like if YOU want? A six year old little human girl. Yeah. Great. That really says "I'm about to put my foot up your [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]!" ... No, it says, "Want to have a tea party with me?"

Sheesh, people nitpick on the silliest things. They are going to fix it so you CAN set up BOTH models the way YOU like and people can see them the way YOU set them up.

I do have to agree on the hips part though, maybe it is just the starter skirt but female SOGA hips seem to be at least 1.5x the radius of the top part of their models. As for different model perception, it goes the other way too - that hot elven guy on SOGA will probably turn out like Michael Jackson on normal EQII; I'm just hoping they have the /face for both SOGA and normal by the time the models go live.

Yeah, I'm aware that they're going to give us the ability to move sliders around that don't do anything on the SOGA modles. I've been in the editor. I know what it looks like. I believe you're intentionally missing the point, because you happen to like the new models. Well goodie for you. I *HATE* the new halfling models. (Not only those, but those are the ones I last mentioned, so I'll stick with those as not to confuse.) How on earth am I supposed to make a halfling that looks like a 6 year old child look even remotely like my current? Oh, that's right, I CAN'T. That's the whole point. There is no possible way for me to like the SOGA halflings, because they're NOTHING alike. Oh, gee, do I "get" to customize it? How great that is! No, wait, that's crap, because the models are crap. It's like telling someone you're going to give them a steaming pile of crap to eat for dinner, but the GOOD NEWS is you can PICK YOUR OWN FORK, from three styles of handles!

The halflings look like children, especially the females. How am I supposed to take this "improvement" seriously when I have a total non gamer associate (female) walk past my desk and make a statement like: "Well, so much for dismissing the attitude that asian men arent all pedophiles". This shocked me. Her words, not mine. It is a point to ponder though. (Not the possibility of that being true, but concieved notion.) I hadn't even thought of that... Unless they make some subtle changes, I'm afraid I wont be using it at all. I hope they just dont sweep threads like this under the rug because it IS an issue, and I felt I should report thusly.

The breast and butt sizes are primarily due to the way the clothing sits on the SOGA models. If you look closely, you'll notice that the clothing doesn't fit as tightly as it does on the older models, so it makes things appear larger than they actually are.

This continues to amuse me.  People calling this japanese animation and saying that these were made for the japanese servers.  They were not.  The soga models were made for the introduction of everquest 2 into the markets of China, Taiwan, and Korea.  The Japanese servers have been using the US models since launch and had no plans to switch to anything else. As for the big [Removed for Content] and stuff, if you look at the characters you will see that the old clothing is not fitting on these soga models.  It is very apparent on the female models.   If you look from the side, you will see that the clothing is about 3 inches thick on them.  This could be the reason that the breasts are so enlarged.   Since the clothing is still retaining the form of the current model breast line which looks extremely large on the tiny framed soga models.  Take a look at the following human female image which has the clothes properly fitted. Aside from her thin legs, her breasts appear to be proper size.

If you ever read any of JRR Tolkien's works, you would realize that traditional haflings always looked like children to others. The SOGA models seem to follow more traditional looks than the US models. The elves look more traditional also. The whole point here is THEY ARE OPTIONAL. If you don't like it, don't select them, get over it and move on.

No, they are NOT optional. It is not an option for ME to tell you how you see ME. That means it's not optional. I now have no way of choosing how I WANT my character to look. I now have to create two entirely different characters, one of which, I don't want. But I HAVE to pick one. You're saying it's an option for me. Again, when the game came out, I picked how I wanted everyone to see me. Now, you get to pick. Oh, and before you say "well just change it" again, we can't yet. Remember that? So now it's going to be some randomly defaulted character. How is that an "option" for me?Even when they do fix that portion of character creation, it's still not an "option". It's not an option, it's DAMAGE CONTROL. Hey, no one here says you can't like it. If you want to appear that way, that should be your option. I don't care if you look ridiculous. However, I don't want to. I shouldn't have to appear in a way I didn't choose to you. I should appear the way I want to appear.Since that's not an option, all of my characters will be forced into full-helms and masks at all times. That's the best damage control I can come up with. Too bad robes and masks don't work correctly together. But don't try and tell me it's an option. If I can't prevent you from seeing that model of "my character" (which it's not, I never chose that character!), then it's not an option.

But did you take into consideration that its precisely the same way for people who want SOGA and don't want others to see them as normal EQII graphics?. It is not an option for them to tell others how they appear. I know that I would have to create two entirely different characters, one of which, I don't want. But I would have to pick one. (Sorry, but if i'm going to make a SOGA female human, i'd really rather her not appear to have a face in the shape of a rock to people with normal graphics, but eh, when was the last time people went up to your character and commented on how you looked?)

But you DID pick how you looked. And if you play on any RP servers, I suspect people make comments on your character a great deal. They can make it on a per character basis which model is seen, they just chose not to. If you want to appear to me as a 5 year old, then you should be able to, since that's an available model to choose from. I however, should be able to appear to you as my rugged looking halfling, who looks like you should fear her, or at least be very concerned about upsetting her. With the new models, the most you'll be concerned about now is if she's staying up past her bed time.

Things I hate: Barely Customizable: most facial changes you make are so insignifigant they're almost impossible to really notice. Can't change age: I hate that every character now look around 16-20, and ontop of that, have the same exact face Extremely diffrent: First thing I did, was make a human with the wackiest beard and hair do to see what it looked like in SOGA, what do I get? A clean shaven blonde human with a crew cut Animations are wierd: With Babarian males, you walk like you have a carrot up your butt. Wierd Proportions: Some models have huge upper bodys and tiny legs That's it for now, I still need to test further Also, the voices dont seem to go with the look of certain characters

I play on both roleplay servers.  The only time there is a comment about your appearance it is someone saying "oh wow you could be my twin,"  People do not just go up  to other people and comment on their looks.  Frankly, people are more concerned about how they look not how others look.  If you want to appear as the fat little halfling then you can continue to use the current models. If you want to look like a more active mischevious halfling use the soga models.  Ultimately, all that can be said to people who still wish to complain even though they have control over their appearance in both sets is GET OVER IT.   In no way, should you decitate to me how things should look on my computer.  It is an option either use it or dont.

Ah, but therein lies the rub. You see, I already DID pick how things appear to you on your computer. It's called "Character Creation". No, don't like that answer? Ok, fine. Why can't I pick that your elf looks like a dwarf to me, and your halfling looks like an ogre to me, and your troll looks like a fairy to me? What, it's MY computer, in no way should YOU dictate to me how things should look on my computer. Yeah, pretty silly argument you had, huh?

SOE didnt make these models an outsourced company did,for the chinese, korean and taiwanese...not for japan. All SOE has done is be kind enough to let us use them as an option if we want to. IMO whether people see my gnome bruiser in current models or soga models really has no impact on me playing a game i like.

Ive messed around with the SOGA models on test and know that i cant create a version of my char that looks alike...hell they dont even have the glasses option on gnomes,so i just made a look i could live with if decided to put soga on. I will most likely not put the gnome SOGA models on when they go live as i like how my long haired, darkglasses wearing gnome looks, but does it affect me that people might not see me that way? no. Why? cause in these games you have control over the look on your screen based on your hardware not on what others have.

Some people due to their hardware in thier systems might have to play on low settings...ive seen how we look on low settings...like the original eq models..actually worse...are people who dont want to be seen like that going to demand those with low systems stop playing cause they dont like the way those people see their chars? If so then IMO you may be playing the wrong type of game cause really you only have limited control atm on how others see you and i dont think this will ever change.

Actually, that is your argument.  You are the one who is wanting to control things on every level for other players.  What is silly is people do not want others to see them in a different model set at all.  Even though you have the ability to control how you look in both.  And can set it so that you only see the one you want to see.   I bet you do not like it when i use /cutemode either.  It was very clear what I was saying in my comment that you quoted.  If i select something to show up as an option on my computer, you should have no say over it.  Whether that option setting is graphical setting, model setting, or whatever options I have available to me.

*points*

What they said.

I seriously can't believe how selfish some people are.

"I don't like it so NO ONE SHOULD USE THEM! Because god forbid they see ME any differently than what I want them to!"

*sigh* Buncha stubborn people :smileyindifferent:

Whether if you like them or not, they're coming on the live servers,  so it's about time to get over it and realize no one gives a rat's butt what you look like in the game.

Be happy with the models you want to play with and don't worry about how everyone is going to see you, because they could really care less.

exactly,i dont really care how others see me,i get to view how i want to look on my comp and lets faceit the customisation of the current models was alot less than what they hyped it up to be before release. If there was another gnome bruiser standing beside mine in the same tier gear...we look almost exactly the same cept maybe glasses and hair style...so individual looks are really in a persons mind at this point in time.

My only nitpick is that there are more important things SOE could do rather than SOGA.  As in fix some of the bugged zones and instances.

Selfish? I suppose. But then it's "selfish" of you to be able to turn your illusions off, isn't it? I mean, why should you be able to turn off your rat illusion so no one can see it? How "selfish" is that? Can't have it both ways. But yeah, you're right. If I don't like it I can cancel. As a matter of fact, this may just be the straw that broke the camel's back, as they say. The devs just seem to make an effort at ruining the fun. I've quit more one MMO in the past for "straws". This won't be the last. It's just a shame, because I used to really really enjoy this game. And no, you can't have my stuff.

SOE didn't make the SOGA models and they also aren't dealing with the bugs.  That is SOGA's job.  SOGA being the company marketing EQ2 to the Asian pasific.

Like someone said, they are coming to live. If you don't like it, oh well. You WILL have a choice on how your SOGA model looks. Because you are so vain and insecure, does not give you the right to demand that anyone else not have the option to see you in SOGA fashion.

You could look at this the other way around of course. SOE is moving into asia, which is a huge market. With the additional money from the asian subscribers, there will a lot more money that can make into game development.

How is turning off illusions selfish? *scratches head* How is that taking away anything from other players? o_O B/c someone wants to see their own character the way they want and not in an illusion the entire time? That makes them selfish somehow?
Alrighty.. if you say so.

And quitting b/c of SOGA.. well.. you're not the first person to threaten to quit over something silly. *shrugs*
Hope you find another game you can call home for a bit before they add in something OPTIONAL and ya have to quit that one too. *waves*
