I'm sure some of you are rereading the patch notes looking for a missed topic but I can assure you it's there just not in the form you might expect.By using the market forums and the in-game e-mail SOE has created a workable yet economically secure system for offline trading and selling. It really is a good concept that will allow for easy trading and selling but won't flood the market. Thanks for the addition devs, you've restored a lot of faith in the last 2 months.*edited to clearify which boards I was refering to*

Care to elaborate on how sending cash or an item to someone is off-line selling??? Doesn't sound too secure to me...I send you an item hoping you will indeed send me money?

Well if we use the eBay form the money would come to the seller before the item went to the buyer but that really just a convention than a requirement. And it seems to work well for the real world...The main point is the buyer and seller don't have to be online for an exchange to occur. It's the difference between going to the store to buy something and mail order. And yes there does have to be some trust between people and I'm sure people will get burned from time to time but if you have an existing relationship between other people this will make it even better. I gave you a good rating BTW for bringing up a good point. Thanks!

Yeah that is one thing that is lacking.I am really hoping for a C.O.D. function to allow trading for sales. That is the only thing really missing in the mail system in my opinion that and the fact that you can't put a period in the send so you can't send across servers or to SWG as of yet.

![]() W00t! I hadn't even thought of COD as an option. That would remove most any risk the seller would incur by this method. Could we get a Dev to comment on the feasability of a COD option? Anyone...? |

Sorry but I do not see how this provides for good offline selling. How does a buyer find a seller ? How does a seller sell to the highest buyer ?We need an auction system or the current broker can be retained but people can still sell while offline (eg. you log off in your room in merchant mode and you remain a merchant until you log back on).

With no C.O.D. option, this does little to promote offline selling. Few people are going to trust others to complete a transaction one-side at a time. Most people are not going to send money for a product they do not yet have, and few are going to send a product without receiving money.

I can see where the OP is coming from on this. You can list on the server market boards what you have for sale and somone can see it set up a deal with you and bam you don't have to worry about that person being on to get them the money or goods. Yes it will take a great deal of trust between people but that is where you make sure you deal with high level people only and well if they cheat you bring it to your server board

![]() This is obviously an optional on/off-line DELIVERY system between a crafter and someone who ordered an item (like UPS or FEDEX). This will promote the LFW and special ordering system. While it is not a secure system it is something that can be used VERY effectively between 2 people who establish trust between themselves. I would imagine that quite a majority of the special ordering is within guilds or from referrals from friends. That enhances the trust part. Where trust is not established the live trade window is still available. This is NOT the solution to offline trading, nor an EBAY system - but the addition of coin and items to the email definitely is an advantage that can be used is several ways for our benefit.

I agree that this will enhance buying and selling, although as other posters pointed out there is the potential for getting burned. My main concern is that you are limited to 10 "gift" emails in your Inbox. For adventurers this won't be an issue but crafters may hit that limit and bounce at times. I can easily see stuff incoming to crafters (like harvested resources) from multiple adventurers running up against the 10 limit. However, given that this system will likely only be used in trusted relationships perhaps my concern is unfounded.

Just to point out the DEVs in the Stratics chat tonight mentioned this was only the first step with Email in game. They mentioned they are adding a CoD feature in the future which will be your way to do offline selling.

In the long run it's all a moot point. Also from the EQ2Vault Ask SOE chat

![]() That is an awful way of offline selling. Almost as bad as the reason they gave for no previous offline selling. Come on now! No offline selling hurts the sellers more then the buyers. A better idea would be to allow offline selling through the broker only. Another would be to allow selling by an offline player for a set amount of game time. Something like dusk till dawn or dawn till dusk. Thus not all the items for sell are on sell at any given time. No wonder the market is so overpriced. If I chose to sell on line just for the electricity only I would at least double my prices in game. No wonder the trial did not have selling. I would have not chosen to buy the full game if I knew about this issue before now.
