I 've seen a couple swashbucklers in leather armor. My question is why whould you wear leather armor when chain is available for the class? Is it an avoidance issue? Do alot of you guys wear leather armor? I've always wore chain on my scouts so im kinda curious. my guess would be cost, the price of rare metal is stupid, 2 plat for steel at themo, where as leather is cheap,

This has come up several times this week. Most scouts don't wear leather from what I've seen. Yes, you do get added avoidence from leather but most of the folks on this board will tell ou that the extra mitigation is worth more than the extra avoidence.

Both swashy's had on the rare crafted legendary leather armor. Which further made me think. Hmmm why?

if it were rare leather i would guess i am right: cost., particular at lower levels where you level pretty quick, and also if you are not tanking and you group a lot you won't need the extra mit,.

at the moment there are 4 bits of steel for sale at 2 plat each and 2 bit of feysteel at 2 plat.

where as leather there is enough rare leather on the mark to do a DHS bank holiday sale. and its about 20g.

huge price difference if you could get 7 pieces of metal to make the armour, plus you need 2 more bits for weapons, who can afford 9 bits of steel at that price?

this is lv 20 gear i am taking here, it's similar but not so bad at other teirs.

im in full crafted rare leather atm because of price and that i can make it myself so it encourages me to craft - which i stopped a while back at l40 Tailor. Only L28 swashy atm tho.

Cost was one factor for me going leather at lvl 40, but if you look at the stats legendary leather has a higher mitigation than common chain, the STR/AGI/etc are higher, and the cost is 1/4 that of Ebon Chain. A no-brainer.

I'm currently wearing ebon, but I make all my own armor. What are your plans for tier6 & 7? Cobalt/xegonite opr leather? Right now I solo alot because i have no tolerance for low level groups, at the higher lvl's I will be mostly grouping so i'm torn between leather and chain

I do it mostly for a role-playing reason, I do occasionally wear a chain BP and coif but Leather armor just seems more Rogue/swashbucklerish.

T6 if I was doing rare I'd try to get Cobalt before the nerf, but you really don't need rare armor to play a swashy effectively. T7 you'll mostly be decked out in treasured/legendary from instances. I wouldn't bother with Xeg to be honest, T7 your money is much better spent on spell upgrades that'll last for at least a year (Faydwer isn't upping levels).
