Hail and well metI have been following Everquest 2 now for a while, since i played Everquest in my younger days i was a little less aware of lore back then... now am what some may call a lore nut... hehe.. anyway i know there is a lack of the Knights of Truth but i also know that recently a new order has shown itself. is there any information on these people.. also i heard that there is a Marr order in the Bloodline thing? Also while am on it, i have "The maps of Myrist" book from EQ, i loved that book and wondered if you would still consider much found in there as relevant lore??((Get used to me being around,  think am coming over to EQ2 permanent SMILEY))

The prophet of Mithaniel Marr, Bayden Cauldthorn, may know a little about what happened to the Knights of Truth that were once in Freeport.  He can currently be found in the Commonlands near the Graveyard entrance.

There are also quite a few tidbits here and there on these boards.  If you want some official words then put your keywords in and put in Jindrack, Ilucide, or Vhalen in for the author.  I know there are several threads talking about the Knights and Priests of Marr as well as their combined Order of Marr.  All the threads will probably keep you busy for a while.  Oh, and welcome to EQ2.  It's always ncie to see some new faces..err names around here. :smileywink:

Aye, go speak with Bayden Cauldthorn outside of the Graveyard of Freeport in the Commonlands zone. You need to be a Qeynosian to speak with him though. You'll enjoy the quest he'll give you as well.

So i was reading some post from the days when i wasnt really around, but i did remember something from when i watched EQ2 being made in the early days they released a screeshot... which after much digging in Google i managed to find ..So lets see if anyone knows what this is, but i do remember somewhere that it was mentioned as a place where Marr's followers lived in peace away from Freeport, it is my thinking that this is where we will find the bulk of the Order of Marr, what ya think?

It was one of the first prototype designs, For all intents and purposes, to test out NPC interaction and stuff like that in a city or enclosed dungeon type environment. It was a horrible failure anyway, but they didn't intend to put it into the game anyway if I remember right.

The various incarnations and locations associated with the followers of the Divine Twins has alway been my favorite topic of Norrathian lore in all it's various forms.

Type in keywords associated with people and places into the search engine on this board and you will get enough reading to keep you busy for a couple of months.

1.  Knights of Truth

2.  Order of Marr's Fist

3.  Order of Marr

4.  Plane of Valor

5.  Halls of Honor

6.  Befallen

7.  Castle of Val 'Marr

8.  Ardathium

9.  Sister's Isle

10. Bone Bladed Claymore

11. Gynok Moltor

12. Oppala

There are probably a dozen more names, titles or places, but these 12 are a good spring board.

Good luck

It kind of reminds me of DeathFist Citadel for some reason.

That's not it :smileywink:

I always thought it looked like the Deathfist Citadel from the VERY early movies Sony released showcasing some gameplay from EQ2. There was the Deathfist Citadel movie where the party fought on the bridge over the moat, the Obelisk of Lost Souls where the party fought the Nightbloods in the gothic hallway, and the movie where the party fought Venekor.

I do, however, remember that picture being associated with Marr, or the Order of Marr, somewhere...

Heheh... that's because that's Drinal, not Luclin.  Luclin blew up, but Drinal is completely normal

What you are looking at is Lionheart Castle, part of the hidden city of Marr. The village rests beyond the bridge to the right. In an early version of the game the Knights of Truth, Priests of Marr and other benevolent residents from North Freeport migrated to this village after the Freeport Militia drove them out of Freeport.

The guardians of Lionheart Castle are an order that can be seen in North Freeport since the Age of Turmoil. These guardians are called the Sentries of Erollisi. They wear ornate silver armor with a shiny silver helm. The helm's visor is shaped in the guise of Erollisi Marr. These guards don vibrant blue capes with cowls. They are highly skilled with crossbows and always have one slung on their back. Their primary weapon is a blessed ornate war hammer of fine design. Sentries also have long hair regardless of gender. A Sentry is bound to protect the Priests of Marr and any sacred ground of the Order of Marr. These elite knights are very alluring, but pure of heart.

The village of Marr may not appear in game, but its original design document had many elements that have made it into EQ2 lore. Many of these secrets will be revealed in time. The village itself does not exist as designed, but there is a hidden fortress that represents this original design. So, this image does exist on Norrath, in lore.

This is great stuff!  Keep feeding my habit.

My word, yet another sect devoted to the Marr Twins!

So, correct me if I am wrong, the Sentinels of Erollisi are the armed temple guards associated with the Priests of Marr from North Freeport.

This order of temple guards existed as a sub-order, or an allied order, of the Priests of Marr during the period of EQ Live.

Sometime after the Age of Turmoil, they fled Freeport with certain other members of the Priests of Marr, the Knights of Truth, and some ordinarly citizens of Freeport to establish this, (thus far), hidden outpost.

I am curious to know if these refugees from Freeport are the same as the new combined Order of Marr that has re-established themselves in the Qeynos area, and if not what their association with the (new) Order of Marr might be.

I am a bit confused as to the hierarchy here.

It was my understanding that the older, (separate but allied), orders of the Priests of Marr, and the Knights of Truth were combined into a new order merely called the Order of Marr, after their suppression and expulsion from Freeport by the Overlord.

I noticed in the designed post "skilled with crossbows" which made me remember the question I've had for the longest time.  If you look at the weapons tab on the main EQ2 website you will see quite clearly a Crossbow.   What happened to x-bows?

(on a side note, it would be cool if the warrior classes used crossbows and the scouts used bows, but that's neither here nor there).

There never were any crossbows in Everquest other than the CLASS NONE RACE NONE crossbows that thurgadin guards used in Velious.

yeah, i think it does look like DFC, even has the sewer entrance at the base right where it is on the citedal, but based on how it's situated now, looks like this castle was buried and the orc miners found it and dug it up, hence the dirt around the sides and it being in the middle of what looks like a dug up hole, wonder if in the age of turmoil the castle was buried, to protect it, but was unfortunately found by the orcs, while they were digging in the area

Strange, in EQOA after completing your "epic weapon quest" for a pally you could recieve a 2h war hammer weapon with a glowing head.  Here's a picture of what the hammer looked like.

yep, Vhalen did say that this building's design is on Norrath - though its not actually called Lionheart Castle.  The devs must have used these design plans for Deathfist Citadel instead.

Hmm I thought it was ment more as it exsists but it is hidden in game world (not implemented just yet.) rather than used as something else, that said it is Valens cryptic wording here. That the places exsists as a place in current EQ2 time line is very cool and I hope we get to see and visit it and the village behind it soon.

Maybe it will be tied to Cauldon and the work that he is doing, after being told by his higher ups to go to Q, did he come from Lionheart Castle?

I interpreted Vhalens words as "Yes, this place exists, but no, we have no intention of ever bringing it into the game because it was a failed design"

My take was, "Yes, this place exists.  It was a prototype that we later adapted into a different place." (my guess being Deathfist Citadel)

That would be a shame it looks good and I would like to see it and be able to walk the walls..

It does resemble DFC but there are a few changes that make me think no, the sewr grate being in teh wrong place, the walls being different, the extentions being missing.. things that might be easier to start from fresh rather than adjust what is there, without seeing another pic from one of the dev's (hint/bat's eyelashs/offers chocolate treats.) it would very very difficult to tell.

I for one would like to see it in the game though, even as a reworked area.

I have to say i agree with Jaale on this, i think in a later day we will find that the Order of Marr and whatever the Frogloks had, will be in one single place, that is why i think (lore wise) it took a while for enough Frogloks to come out to Qeynos.I Love anything to do with the Halasian's (Barbarians) and the marr twins, i also enjoy any other lore, but i am still finding my thing out here.
