![]() Hey guys, I am preparing to roll up a new toon and I have been nominated to be the healer of the group. We are on a pvp server and I have narrowed (i think) down to a Mystic and Warden. I understand that the Warden is heal over time and the Mystic is ward based. But it seems to me the Wardens ability to root/snare is a pretty big one-up on the mystic. Mystics get next to no control abilities. Which is minimal effect in PvE, but I could see it playing a large role in PvP. Mystic get 1 control ability, an AE mez and deaggro on a 5 minute timer. Many mystics probably couldnt tell you the last time they cast it, I know I can't. That said, its really impossible to give you much of a suggestion on which is better without knowing what the rest of the group is playing. Class synergy is very important, and the classes a warden works best with are not the same as the ones a mystic works best with.

If, as you imply, you have a "group", then your choice of Priest should come down to what you like to play. All Priests are relatively equal as Healers.In looking for control, you need to look for someone who specializes in that - namely an Enchanter - as one of the other members of your group.Enchanters possess a ridiculous number of control abilities - Root , Mez, Daze, Stun, Stifle - and are the right choice for the job.

![]() Oo something I can respond to... Ok, I play on a pvp server also, and I happen to be leveling up a mystic at this time. I have a good friend who rolled a monk to level up with me. I have another friend who has a 70 warden on pvp server, and he is my main healer when I play my Berserker who is also level 70, so I will do my best to tell you my observations and let you decide what you think. Mystics in pvp get some good tools. WE do get a snare, its connected to our main DD, the grey line, which is cold based and slows movement. Mystics get a really fast casting dot which is disease based, and it does good damage when you get the spell, but by the time you get close to the upgrade in the line the damage is not as great, but that is offset with a cold based dot we get along the way...stack them both and you do have about 80-100 damage per tick around level 25 (with adept 3 quality)...not uber, but better then nothing. I personally think slow is also a nice advantage in pvp...if you can get it off.... we also get a spell that steals str and stam (debuff)...this is huge if you come across someone that is carrying boxes instead of bags, this will act as a perma snare. At least at the earlier levels on weaker races/classess that don't get a huge str buff. The pet is weak as hell but does good damage...if you can keep him alive, he will increase your dps imensely...just don't let him tank. The AoE mez has saved me several times, it might be near useless on pve, but on pvp its awsome, gank squad surrounds you, starts beating on you, hit the AoE mez, ward, heal and get the hell out of there...not sure if hitting that will put you in combat though...have always been in combat already by the time I cast it... Ok as far as Wardens go, they are very very very strong in PvP...the root is incredibly good. They heal over time, and I can tell you its a strong class...I have seen my warden friend beat bruisers like they are decrepit...and well Bruisers are tough in pvp. Warden friend says he has the most trouble with brigands (we are on Qeynos side), because they stun alot and have fast damage. Thats all I have to say, I hear people say alot that Mystics can't dps their way out of a wet paper bag...I am still going though, but its not fair for me to say yet what end game will be like, I am still low level...but having alot of fun so far. Mystic DPS gets worse around level 30-35, in PvE anyway. Our damage scales slower than the hp of mobs, so we fall behind. Spells can have different effects in PvP though, and players have less health than mobs.

So it seems that if I am going to be constantly grouped a mystic is a good choice... But if I am going to face the wilds of pvp on vox a warden is a more solid choice? What pet does the mystic get?

![]() At 20 Shamens get our dogdog pet..... I wouldn't let the pet play much into your choice as he is highly AA modified and really won't be useful until the higher levels. A strong benifit of the pet in the PvP world is that although he doesn't do much damage he can still interupt, and on the str AA line you can give him the abilitiy to interupt as well, that all being said, he's bright white (ghost dog) and sticks out almost as bad as the Conj's mage pets.

Here's my couple of copper ... If you already have a group of people that will be rolling around together, have one person be mystic, the other warden or fury. The two priests will be able to support each other (very important) as well as the group. Having only one priest in a group works fine for pve encounters, but can cause burn-out and frustration for your priest in pvp encounters, as they ~will~ be the first targeted and most hammered in pvp. Having the shaman/druid mixture in the group allows for extra buffs and resists as well as gives each priest that extra second or three to get out debuffs and damage in addition to their healing. A two priest group, especially a shaman/druid group ... will definitely go farther/faster in pvp than a one priest group.

As much as I like Mystics, my suggestion is to go Warden.The most important thing on pvp is quick casting heals, and druids do have the best of these. The next thing is survivability and Wardens getmultiple roots, snare and dust storm which makes them very hard to kill.I'd suggest against going Fury as they don't get a root, and the nukes aren't that useful at high levels.

Mystic and druids compliment each other very well. One of the benefits of mystic is at 35, you get snake illusion. I have actually had multiple occasions where a group of higher levels would jump us, and would kill all the others in my group. we would get them worn down pretty well, but they didn't notice me because i was so low to the ground with my illusion. I was able to get the group rez off, and we killed the entire group. |

I have nothing really to add to this discussion since I don't dig PvP, but I must compliment the above poster on the tactic he shared. Snake illusion has always been my favorit Mystic illusion (beaver form is everyone else's favorite - can't imagine why >.>

![]() I can. It is very handy in groups if tank loses aggro for some reason or pull fails (taunt resists or adds). Useless in raiding though. Anyway that spell has saved me several times.

![]() I use that spell all the time when raiding. Sometimes Bolster is down and we're moving fast so I pre-ward on pull and keep my finger hovering over that button on incoming.

![]() I tend to use my AE mezz several times a day, sometimes due to adds in PVE, sometimes to stun an enemy player in PVP so that I can rez my duoing partner after hes been assasinated (they always go for the clothy first). I learned a while ago to forget about worrying about my solo damage in PVP, and although i can defend myself against some classes (I ditched the dog and went down the AGI line which I found helps a huge amount) I tend to log my ranger alt in if I have no company and never ever go looking for trouble solo as a Mystic. 2 healers in group is in my opinion the way to go with PVP, when I'm doubled up with a Druid or Templar our group is very hard to take down. |

![]() Sry for making this late reply. You have likely rolled a toon and are having fun with your choice. I just wanted to add some insight to this topic for any future wardens or mystics. I play both a warden and a mystic as main characters on a pvp server. As mentioned above, a warden's arsenal is built for pvp. I will not revisit each of their weapons, except just to say that roots are golden in pvp. No one likes the chase. And grps will grab you over any other healer because of the root. Oh, and the evac.... However the main difference I believe is that mystics are slow casting while wardens have the fastest heals complemented with rapid-fire nukes. This difference in casting times is paramount in pvp. I mostly duo my warden with my wife wizzy in pvp. We have over 5000 kills together. Its a great combo but you will be attacked by full grps hitting, stunning, and interrupting. I know I can squeeze a heal in as a warden whereas I have no chance as a mystic. This makes mystics difficult to solo as I cannot launch a ward for the life of me with a full grp of greens, biting me like mosquitos. And as far as dps, I can usu can compete with my wife's for that reason. Oh sure she has atomic dps, but they come with long casts. When you are ganked by a bruiser/monk/brig/swashy combo...how can you expect to stand un-molested casting with big wind-ups? What do I enjoy most? I use Sonorous Spirits 20-25 times a day. This is the only way to beat a brigand (must also be specced down agi at least 5 points so you can earn phalanx which is a hostile root). Having only one control spell as eopopsicle stated makes mystics the most difficult class to play in pvp atm, So speccing down agi is a must. My advice is to roll warden, much easier pvp class to play but if you like the challenge stick with the mystic. Oh and reroll nagafen, vox has like 10 people that play on a regular basis.
