I proposed similar for guardians, who also have a problem with soloing, which is horribly slow for these two classes.
I t should NOT be castable on others, that brings up problems. Self only. Damage amount set to improve solo DPs to a better amount, say 1 hp per level or the like?

A damage shield is very effective and for templars wouddl up their DPs without bothering other folks.
Simple answer? SMILEY

Not a bad idea but in a sense it's alread in the game. Imbued Armour/Bucklers can have a damaged proc that activates on a 5% chance when hit. When solo I hit alot :smileywink: it therefore procs quite often, in groups I get hit less often ( hopefully :smileywink: ) so really this is my damage self only sheild.

Currently at lvl 41 using Imbued Fulginate and Cedar Buckler both giving approx 100pts Damage on proc has been very handy while soloing :smileyvery-happy:

You can always purchase a damage shield potion.  Those do run into money if you solo alot.

Thinking about the lack of dps a Templar has took me back a few months to doing Harclaves.   I have ran through at least half a dozen different classes through this zone.   The one big factor I noticed was that SoE gave different classes different "super buffs".  With the healing classes, we were given more regens and a large damage shield.  Without this damage shield, my templar would probably still be swinging her hammer through her first run of that zone.

I would have to agree, take one of our useless spells and give us a small self only damage shield or a divine damage prod that matters.

I really like this idea myself.

From what I can tell. If you like the combat changes or you do not like  the changes, everyone seems to agree that our solo capablities leave a bit to be desired. I personally didn't choose a templar to play solo, but when I am LFG I do solo.

So, I would like to see a small self only damage shield. Not a large one, but something like 10-15 points for a level 50ish.(maybe even less, check with a parser to see what is reasonable). This would make my solo time a bit more bareable. I think they should explore this for all the priest with similar conerns.

However, on the flip side, I was in living tomb just yesterday soloing. Due to me being, in general, not very bright, I pulled some mobs to a spot and commenced getting add after add. By the end, I believe I had gotten about 6 adds total. The first 2 being linked encounters of 6 mobs between the 2 encounters. I lasted the entire time, although on the last 2, I was only casting my reactive with an occasional smite after I could manastone. The point being not very many, if any, classes could have lasted through that many adds. I know my bard would have been calculating repair costs after the first add. So allthough it takes us longer to kill a mob, we do have the advantage of having very little or no downtime between mobs. (at least IMO) Not that this is as fun as killing quickly.

Side note here would be some cool names for a spell like thisSMILEY just for fun

Holy recourse

Divine retribution

Recanting Grace

Loiki 52 Templar

Oggok

P.S. I would not want to give up any of my current spells to get this damage shield. I do believe we have a great spell line up, especially if SOE would revist some of our recast timers on stuns and our mez lines.
