I have not posted here in awhile.  I quit playing my Enchanter (my first character) awhile back.  Have been playing my monk since then.  I noticed alot of problems springing up from so-called Illusionist and decided to wait it out and not take the painful plunge into the Illusionist class.  I love the idea of Illusionist, just the implementation is WAY off.  Crowd-control is not a must, but a very helpful thing, and the 3 minute buffs are [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] (I believe they should be on the 15 minute timer like Pathfinding and SoW).  Then one of the main reason's I quit the class, and I know its a trivial thing, the illusions, or lack of I should say. Conjurer's and Necro's it seems get the best illusions i have seen.  In which case, makes me believe they should A.) Change the Illusionist class name, to Mesmerizer.  Then if they really really want to use the class name of Illusionist, change Conjurer class name to Illusionist, and just say that the pets they summon are illusionary pets.  That way they get the best illusions and it will actually fit. B.) give us some illusions that surpass Conjurer's illusions.  I say surpass because, the class is called Illusionist, therefore they should be more focued on that particular thing.  Hate to say it, but there is no reason why conjurer's should have the illusions they do.  I have a feeling that they meant to give it to Illusionist but accidently gave it to Conjurer (but yu never know)

I searched through the Dev Tracker and could find no mentions of Illusionist problems there.  As if there are no problems.  Not even having the lowest number of players playing this class isnt a good enough sign saying "SOMETHING WRONG HERE!".  I have seen posts about fixing Monks/Brawler's deflection skill (nice since I have a Monk).  I have seen ones on Wizards/Warlocks.  But this class seems to be looking like the Pikeman profession on SWG, forgotten and never addressed.  This issue wouldn't be so bad if they were still in the process of fixing major bugs and such, but it seems that there is enough man-power and coders at SOE to release new zones a few months after game release, but not fix classes already implemented and suking.

I love the whole idea of Illusionist being Crowd Control, and basiclly a very very nice ally to have in your group.  When I did play my Enchanter, i defeinetly made things easier on the group, and with Breeze and the such, that much more.

Also, as I have read through some of the other posts about the High-end game, it makes not even want to keep my Enchanter alive long enough for any fixes.  Basiclly, many people in this forum (and probably other class forums also) would like to just hear a response.  A slight nod in our direction, or the finger.  Either way we would know if we are just a class that was a last thought in game design or if we have a valuable place in a group.

Basiclly I started this post to ask the community if there were any responses to any of the problems I listed or any on the forum concerning this class, but as yu know people get carried away a bit :smileyhappy:  In my mind, I think, if there has been time to implement new zones, and the such, then there should of been time to fix some problems with existing classes.  Guess my ideas of priorities are different.  Am I wrong or what?

Oh well, done ranting, probably make no difference.

Great list btw, if anyone in charge can have a looksy. http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=26&message.id=1524

None of your concerns have been addressed fully except for the 3-minute buff thing, and then only kinda.  The level 30 special training ability you get is a 4.5 minute breeze upgrade (slightly better than breeze adept 3).  With haste, it has been determined that it makes a very small difference as it only hastes unstyled combat.  I typically only haste the tank who needs to hold agro and only when it's convenient.  I also haste myself when I'm trying to level up my piercing ability.

Keep playing your monk.

(BTW, I'm 34)

There have been pleanty of threads in this forum along the same lines you specify.

I had all, but abandoned my Enchanter, but pressed on since I don't really want to repeat the 190+ quests I've done with another character.  And now that he's an Illusionist he's marginally better, but I still feel there is so much they could have done with the class.  I also agree, that, for now, the title "Illusionist" is a farce.  How about a happy version of the Coercer class: Compeller.  Seems more fitting.

I am finding that, the higher my level, the more I am able to pickup groups.  Seems CC is important in the 20s.  Especially in some of the areas where unwanted things popping in to say "Hi" is a fairly common occurrance.  It's kinda nice to make those a non-issue for the group.

I do have hopes that the Devs might address some of our concerns, but I just don't see that it is a high priority for now considering the lack of us around.  I suppose that will just make us more valuable (albeit disgruntled)?  Heh...

And your thread didn't sound like a rant - very nicely put in fact.  I just wish there was a better way to consolidate our concerns/suggestions and make them more well known to the Devs...

Guess we will just have to wait it out then. As for me I think I will get to at least Illusionist then get back to my monk.  I do like having more tha one class-type to play, don;t want to get burnt out.  Here's to you Illusionist, the equivelant to the Pikeman in SWG, forgotten for reasons unknown to me other than its the least-played class.(at this rate, will be played even less) CHEERS!
