I have a little issue with my warlock, and need your advice. I dont really understand how this happenned, but my subjugation skill is very VERY low (like 41/85), so my bind spell never work.  It is always resist, and the fewit is not, it last for .5 seconds and then the mob unroot and charge on me. I tried to raise it, but killing mob after mob, casting my chain spell everywhen I could, just raised it for about 10 points, at a rate of 1 point per 15 mobs killed.  So I got bored and stopped playing it. :smileysad: Now I miss him.... what should I do?  Do I really need to root the mobs when fighting them?  Should I reroll a new warlock before im to high and be sure to keep my subj as high as possible at all time?  Or should I gain new gears with a lot of stamina and health to survive the fight instead of intellect?  Or anything else I didnt think of yet? Any suggestion, advice, help?

it can be tedious but you will need to get used to root/nuking mobs as you progress to higher levels in this game, if that doesn't appeal to you, you may want to stop now and try playing a scout class like a swashbucker, or assasin, or brigand.

my suggestion to you is to find a grey solo mob one that is about 7-10 levels below you, and start off the encounter with a root spell, then yell (you do this so you regenerate power at a faster rate) and just chain cast your root (no dmg spells) until you max your subjigation.

also make sure you upgrade your root to at least ap4 or adp1 it will cut down on root resists significantly, and if you get lucky on a rare harvest try to get it at adept 3.

Im guessing you thought of this, but as I havent been raising my subjugation, and Im now seeing how important it is what about just recasting it over and over on a low level mob?6 second recast.  Do you still gain subjugation if the mob is low level.  I would think you could probably keep it perma-rooted if its low level.  And it wouldnt hurt you if it broke.Would this work?  (still low level and havent tried myself)Mal

I wouldn't reroll unless you're totally unhappy with this alt.  If you put the time into it, you can get subjugation back up to full.

What I do is take a break after reaching every new combat level in order to raise my skills to their new caps.  If you're grinding levels, your skills will fall behind alot.  The skill drill is boring but needs to be done to minimize fizzles.

I'd use a subjugation spell with a good balance between fastest cast and minimum power consumption.  I'm not certain if a spell loses its ability to raise your skills if the spell is too low in level to you.  I keep a group of spell icons in one corner of my hotbar array for skill-up purposes.  I cycle through them and target grays if needed.

It was a good suggestion by another player to yell between casts to maximize power regen.

This used to work, I'm not sure if it still does but it's worth a shot:

Target a mob, anything works but doing this where everything is grey works best. Start casting your root. Move. It interrupts your spell cast, but you get a subjugation check when you start casting the spell to see if you fizzle. If you get a subjugation check, you can get a skill up. All this takes no power, doesn't engage the mob, and lets you get skill ups.

But like I said, I haven't tried it in forever since all my skills are maxed.

Except crushing.

And piercing

And fishing.

you really don't have to go specifically raising it by hitting grey mobs. just use the roots whenever you fight in groups etc. and whenever it is up. that is enough to raise it. i know that because my lvl 70 warden has two roots - encounter and single - and both use different skills. as i only used the group root spell i realised that my subjugation was too low. so what did i do? i just rooted every monster we fought when i was in a group. as often as i could. whenever the root was up i casted it and the skill raised to max without me specifically going after mobs to raise the skill.

so just cast the root whenever you fight mobs. it's best in a group because you won't have problems when the mob resists.
