I was looking at some older gameplay trailers/footage of EQ2. In these trailers it appears the game is pretty much running at top settings,at a very stable/fluid framerate. So what are the specs of these machines that were capable of running EQ2 a few years back in such perfection? Or were all the trailersin some sort of rendering mode with the developer's version of the game engine?Just wondering, since I see people talking about their 3.8ghz quad core computers, super fast ram/HDs, and bleeding edge graphics cardsin which Eq2 still chugs along with.I know that the engine can't take advantage of multiple cores, but I don't think you'll find a single core processor much faster then 3.8ghz without some massive overclock and cooling system. So will EQ2 run perfectly only on some imaginary system that does not exist? It does not seem single core clock speeds are going to increase unless some miraculous technological breakthrough is made, as currently they are hitting the boundary of how far they can push it.Thanks for your knowledge SMILEY

Liquid Nitrogen Cooling! But no seriously, I have seen the game run great on a dual core and an NVIDIA 8800 with 2GB of ram, from the DELL XPS 420 series.

an old system wont run the game as good as a new one with everything turned on, anyone who played a long time and upgraded pc couple times should be able to see thatand my current system, c2d e8400@4ghz, 4gb ram, radeon 4870, gigabyte p35-ds4, 2x74gb raptor raid 0 etc runs the game great with everything but shadows and flora displacement on max in most zones so im pretty happy. can even raid like this just turning down spell effects to 1 or 0 and lowering hq characters a bit. this is with 1680x1050, 4x edge detect aa and 16x afnot sure what you mean by running perfectly though, but this is very playable for me, 20-60 fps(vsync on ofc) depending on zone and if im soloing, grouping or raiding

If I was going to build a box JUST for Everquest 2 then I'd probably go with something like this -CPU: AMD FX-57RAM: 3GB (any type that can take the voltage needed to bottom out the timings)GFX Card: Nvidia 8800Seperate high-speed hard drives for the operating system and gameThats what I would recommend as an Everquest 2 computer without breaking the bank.

Can you still the FX-57?? Not much room there to improve the clock rate either.

E8500 is cheaper and can hit 4-4.5GHZ without trying. (LOL 2 years ago I would laugh at the thought of using Intel for gaming.  Ain't PC's fun!)
