Resist Gear

I was wondering what you guys wear for resist gear and still keep the dps up thanks

If I'm going all out DPS, I don't worry about resists or mitigation. I wear primarily STR gear. INT helps a little also. I just try to stay outside the AE and joust in between the AEs. If I mess up and get hit by an AE or pull aggro, I ususally die. I just do my best not to die.

For mobs with zone-wide AEs or for those with AE ranges so big I have to fight inside the AE, I go all out resists for that particular AE and take the hit on my DPS (and I stay close to the healer to take advantage of his/her group cures/heals). Jewelers can make some real good resist gear, but you'll be sacrificing STR and ultimately DPS. However, It's better to stay alive and have less DPS, than dying and having none.

Anyway, this is how I do it. There are so many ways to play a Ranger, I'm sure you'll get more/better feedback.

I don't think there's an easy answer to your question. Obviously, fabled items will usually offer both. I have nearly 4 full sets of armor in my bags at all times. I keep every drop I get if it offers a decent resist number to any given stat, and I switch out accordingly during raids. Most of the time, I'm just wearing the set that offers the best stats to str / agi / int, in that order. During encounters when resists make the difference between living and dying, I don't worry about the potential dps loss.I'm not sure if I've really responded to your intended question. Hopefully this at least helps a bit, though.

I too keep a couple of sets of armor, jewlery, and weaponry in my bags. Too keep it all straight I even made an excell spreadsheet with each item and its slot, stats and resists listed. So if I need (for example) poison resists I can just sort on that column and all my equipments with poisons resists will line up from best to worst. I also keep a printed copy, in case I dont have time to fiddle with excel during a raid

Usually I swap out some STR jewelry for resist jewelry and it's sufficient when just jousting/standing out of AOEs isn't good enough. Sometimes I'll put on some resist armor as well. The drop from raid-buffed 500 ish STR to 400 is not a giant impact on DPS. Some really nice fabled gear would help but I don't have a lot of that yet SMILEY

I carry a full set of backup gear that I can put on if my gear falls off that is focused in the same directions as my main gear (STR, STA, INT)I also carry full sets of the common crafted resist jewelry (1 neck, 1 ear, 2 rings), plus some individual armor pieces that grant a nice boost (mostly shoulders and quest rewards)I echo what the others said above mostly... oftentimes we dont have to worry about AEs, but when we do, you'd better be able to boost the appropriate resist.

I carry anywhere from 1-4 pieces of backup gear for different slots with diff resists types on it. If it comes to a decision where i would lose maxed str and gain a couple hundred resists I stay with str. I do have resist jewelry which I will swap in depending on ae type and whether it can be avoided by distance.

Distance is your friend. Personally I have a funny feeling that resists dont mean a whole lot. When the MA has over 10K resist and still gets one shotted by the AE sometimes, well, me and my 6K resists will just lay a pillow down so when I die I land on something soft.

Thats why I always try and fight next to Kerrans. So when I fall, all that soft fur is there to cushion me. Its not that bad, except for the fleas

To the OP. The claymore quest line offers some ok general purpose resist items - ring (or earring), shoulders and belt. The mob xorrohz (spelling) also rewards some bad looking armour that has a decent resist on each piece - you can swap those in/out.

As others have said, the crafted resist jewelery. I carry a moonstone earring for each type and swap it depending on the fight.

Generally though I joust the aoe's. Watch the raid health or caster pets - you can usually tell when an aoe lands and joust it if it's not already being called. Or set up a window and watch for the text message.
