![]() I am starting a Paladin and have not seen too much about specifically mentioned about 2hd slashers. Are there 2hd slasher equivalents to Dwarven Sword, Weakened Ghoulbande, etc? Thanks.

For starting Paladins I think a pristine forged carbonite [Removed for Content] sword is the best 2H-choice.

I'd agree, this is probably the best two handed sword to use as a new paladin, better than any crafted i have looked at (though not by much in some cases) I regularly check the broker and have not found anything better. |

Im really gona get flamed... well i think i will.... but ive been in so many groups lately with alts where a paladin or guardian thinks their roll is "damage" and they proudly flash around a rather large sword, is it just me ?Aside from that, my pally has a 1H+Shield... and a 2H in the backpack to use when im not main tank

![]() I generally stick with crafted weapons. I'm at the "mid-level" part of the game and feyiron stuff suits me nicely and was fairly affordable. Though I hope to one day have my ghoulbane finished and perhaps give that claymore quest a try. I wont get into a 1h vs 2h argument really. Using both work fine. Tank or not, there is nothing that says we shouldn't dish out a little damage as well. Mitigation is based off two things I'd say. How many hits you can take from the mob, and how fast you can kill it. Pick one and it balances out for the most part.

![]() I prefer claymores to greatswords myself, though I'm experimenting with greatswords when I can. I also stick to player crafted swords unless I find something absolutely extraordinary in loot. So far, only the Ghoulbane one hander has impressed me at all.

Now, that said, your still correct in that fact that as a main tank you should be using a 1H and shield, as shields add a VERY large amount of avoidance AC and significantly help tanking. But when your an assist tank definately whip out that two hander and let 'er rip. Do NOT underestimate the damage SK's and Paladins do in EQ 2. Aside from tanking, our class descriptions show us as heavy damage dealers and we ARE. As for weaponry, the best 2H sword you can get for 20-30 is a Pristine Forged Steel Greatsword, Claymore or [Removed for Content] Sword, which are the player made rare weapons. They easily blow away all other 2handers I have seen including Giantslayer, Soulreaver and the Dwarven Greasword of Cleansing but have the drawback of being rare and EXTREMELY pricey unless you get luck and forage the steel cluster yourself. To start at 20 as a Paladin your quest weapon is actually very decent until 23 if I remember right and give the way it advances it is better than carbonite for that period. But once it goes white you will want to replace it if at all possible. Soulvreaver is a drop of a name mob in Vermin's Snye I beleive (possibly the Soulreaver itself). Dwarven Greatsword of Cleansing is a reward for the Firemyst Gully instanced zone event and Giantslayer is (I THINK ) a quest reward from somewhere near Thundermist village but I am in no way certain on that. Barring those, yes the pristine forged carbonite greatsword, claymore or bastatrd swords are all very good choices. Given how SOE balanced all the waepons in all tiers the damage ANY weapon does is pretty even within a tier. Meaning most all two handers do the same damage over time, even though they vary in exact base speed and damage per weapon. Greatswords are slower, claymores are faster but greatswords hit harder and claymores hitlighter. The average over time is nearly identical so use what you like. I use Electrified Bone Bladed Claymore at level 50 and I STRONGLY suggest every paladin to get this when they can. It is an awesome sword and at level 50 I can do around 200 damage most hits and with a 5% chans of doing an extra 111 damage from the proc. The quest it self is not too hard but it's expensive if you buy the ebon. And it has to be an EBON CLUSTER not an ancient ebon sword (The Drops) has to be the cluster. And also. When you forge the hilt with the ebon cluster you loose your city citizenship till you have killed 1000 undeads. Since I have a guild hall I was afraid I would lose the house because of that but I can tell people that wonders that that does not happen. You do not lose your house when you lose citizenship for this quest. //Xander of Blackburrow

For level 20 I would definately get the soulreaver if you can, if not a pristine carbonite 2h. At low lvls you dont need a shield, you can hold aggro just as good with a 2hander if not better and you will be dealing a lot more damage compared to a whole what like 3% avoidance off a kite shield? I used player made weapons until lvl 37 or 38 i forget which when you can use the Mercenary Great Sword, its the best 2hander I have found besides some of the new loot weapons i dont know much about until you can get the (E)BBC.

![]() When you finish Operation Greenhood, be sure you go back to the Glademaster and give him a holler. He'll give you a very nice reward. I was using the 1h sword (Stonepine Blade) for a long time (quite a bit better than Weakened Ghoulbane), but another choice is Mammoth which I just bought as my 2h. It's very cool looking and yellow at 40. I think the Halberd might be better but I sold mine a long time ago

I just found Soulreaver 2-Hander and it's blue at Lvl 25. It has almost the same stats as pristine forged carbonite [Removed for Content] sword, but it does more overall damage AND it looks way more cool

at around level 21, either go to fallen gate and do the quest (from the dark elf outside the gate) or buy from freeport market or freeport black market for around 5 gold, the Twisted [Removed for Content] Sword, is an amazing two hander, best damage to delay ratio for 2hander till mid 30s, the icon is amazing looking..unfortunately the actual sword looks like a cabonite [Removed for Content] sword, but that's how SOE does armor and weapon and shield graphics, lots of the same, so not suprised. Still looks decent though.

![]() Never forget the rare player made items, now more than ever since you can imbue them with some amazing procs. Example: A Twisted [Removed for Content] Sword Damage: 36-107, Delay 1.9, Int +4, Agil +3, Str +4, Health +27, Power +21, Wisdom +3 pristine forged steel [Removed for Content] sword Damage: 38-115, Delay 1.9, In +4, Agil +4, Str +3, Health +26, Power +28, Wisdom +4 The player made is clearly better with more damage comparable stats and 6 more in total power & Health. Plus if you get the player made imbued you can get a nice proc that hits for 75-150 damage as well. Even if you just get a common player made pristine, you can still get it imbued and that is not that expensive to do over all.

I use a Mess Sergeant Cleaver. It is a fabled 2h axe with a damage rating of 55.1 and a process. While I have traditionally been a 1h+shield paladin, the damage output on the cleaver is too much to pass up except on the most difficult of fights.
