I guess we're more or less even.Apart from avoidance issues which affect both classes, I still think our debuff needs to be increased from -15 defense, to -50 defense to be on par with the crush/pierce/slash debuff bruisers get. Here is the most recent thread about monk/bruiser difference.Hope this help.

To be fair, things are very up-in-the-air at the moment due to problems with mitigation and avoidance under the latest combat revisions.  Right now there are still significant problems when it comes to tanking (in general, but also related to the Monk), but there will be changes in the near future that may or may not put Monks and Bruisers closer to where they want to be.

The changes thus far that you should probably know about are that the percentage boost to mitigation that Defensive Stance grants has been slightly increased for Monks (as well as a couple other non-plate classes) to account for the lower starting point of leather mitigation numbers.  Also, a percentage of the Monk's deflection has been made uncontestable, though not terribly much (was it 7.5%, or so?  Can't recall without looking it up).  The general tone of the Devs in making these changes was that they were starting small and would be incrementally adjusting things, though that was before the larger problems with tanking under the latest combat revisions came to light (I'm sure, if you've browsed the forums much, that you've seen the threads about that).

So, consider things to be 'still under construction' as they usually are right after major updates.  Whether to be optimistic or pessimistic is up to you, though do remember the forum's general bias towards pessimism.  :smileytongue:

not much change really but i do think the gap has narrowed with regards to tanking at any rate. DPS is about the same compared to other classes as it was pre EOF but solo play is now quite a lot harder imo, it certainly is at T7 anyways

As a monk i have tanked all of the new EoF instances with a single cleric healer (our worst type  of healer)  and have also tanked every namer in Nizzara including the Boss with not too many problems. Granted im ok equipped but i hear of some  zerkers and crusaders complaining they cant do some of the new instances well unless they have 2 healers so overall im reasonably happy.

The reuse timer on our heal spell really needs to be set to 1.5 min as is the Bruiser's.  There is no logical reason that we are at 3 min on this.  Does not matter that we are able to use it on others.  It is not powerful enough to be a game breaker, even if we were using it on someone else, you are not going to keep them alive very long even with a 1.5 min recast.  This change would close the great divide between monks and bruisers a bit at least.

It's not really about what a single monk can do, but what a few monks could do.  A group of monks could account for a /lot/ of healing, if they were working on a proper Cheal cycle.  I don't know if it would be anything approaching the healage you'd need to keep up with raid DPS, but...yeah.A 50% heal every ninety seconds would be a little broken for a non-healer class.  We're not cleric/tank hybrids, like paladins, or shaman/fighter hybrids, like EQ1 beastlords, or druid/fighter hybrids, like EQ1 rangers.  We're evade tanks/utility fighters.Besides.  I don't want to be a healbot.  Or sitting there, waiting for "MEND INC TO %t, KIRASHIN, YOU'RE UP IN 5sec" to go up.

Then take away the "can heal others" part and make it a self heal only.  I would gladly give up the heal anyone part for half the recast timer.

So you want to be a bruiser???

I suppose you want their mit buff, their dps buff, sonic fists etc...

We're monks, we're more defensive (qeynos) we heal group mates.
