Well, the "Why the new forum" thread is locked and the old EQLive forum is locked, so I will post here...

I do not understand the need for a new forum at all.

I am not trying to "hook up" with people from other games, I don't play them, I don't know them.

i do not give a hair on a Hideous Rat's Butt what they are planning for players of Planetside (I am sure those players are interested, and power to them - but why do I need to wade through their planning threads?)

Just makes no sense to me, except maybe as an information distribution (certainly not discussion) forum - which you had with Announcements on the Station site - no need for a forum.

I think its ok, as it helps consolidate questions and answers that would apply to everyone who might be attending. If they created a FF forum on all of their boards, good questions would get asked and missed, or replied to, but not spread to the other boards. I don't think they want or need to add a full fledged FF rep for each and every forum, and I'd wager that Jen and Brenlo have their hands full planning the event, and wouldn't have time to hit each and every board to reply...

It might break up some of the banter that we see on the normal boards, but its still possible to do that here. SMILEY

Let me explain why we needed a seperate forum then Oh Klonn who did not read the posts here =) Fan Faire is now includes all SOE games, yet most of the information was being put up on the EQ boards. Unfortunately for the rest of our players, if they did not have an EQ account, they could not access it and post. So your next argument will be,"well then put a Fan Faire boards on each games site you lazy dufus!" That would have worked except that neither Jen nor I have the time to visit 5 or more seperate boards to update Fan Faire information and answer questions. Additionally we want folks, especially those who have All Access, to join in the larger community. The SOE community. So now we have the start of that here with the Fan Faire boards being available to anyone from any of our SOE products.

So there.

Yes, this helps you disseminate info from SOE.

But it won;t help community discussions at all, it will actually stifle them.

Well yeah I guess it will stifle those conversations you folks had on the EQ Fan Faire forum. But it will allow folks from other games to jump into the discussions. I think that once folks get used to the discussion being here, they will make their way here just fine. =)

I've been attending Fan Faires for 2 years, as an EQOA only player and never been able to post on the other board without an EQPC account. I finally got an EQPC account to never play, just to be able to post on the Fan Faire forums!

This is a great forum now, can't wait until it is set up for each type of SOE game and each player base can visit with each other, that are serious about attending Fan Faire, and meet, introduce each other, and tell stories over liquid refreshements!!

I'm not fond of of the one board/all games idea myself. Way it was, EQ1 folks had an FF board, EQ2 folks had one, etc. IMO it kind of homogenizes things. I only know and am interested in talking and meeting with my fellow EQ players on the forums. All the folks from the various Sony games can meet and mix at FF if we choose

I have no problem with a consolidated board.

The problem really is SOE's board framework - they have compeltely separate boards per game - so we have to login separately, register seprartely (and if you don't you can get griefed), separate PMs, separate bookmarks...

And I stell, PLEASE, need a legible skin. I am using special software and hardware to read this and it is VERY DIFFICULT even then!
