Since Sony is now allowing character transfers, name changes, sex changes and soon race changes, what about adding guild name changes?

I am an officer in a guild which all the original members left (not booted, just quit the guild and went off elsewhere). I don't join guilds based entirely on whether I like the name, but rather whether I like the people. I'm sure there are lots of guilds in this situation, with a completely different membership and outlook than when the guild was created. Some guilds have unsavory reputations because of former members. It would be nice to have a fresh start without the grind of starting all over again. And, let's face it, there are so many guilds in existance right now, it's redundant to start more new ones. Finally, there are those guilds who misspelled their guild name and would like to correct it.

There would need to be some guidelines so that hostile takeovers can't change the guild's name, or a majority vote by all the active members would be required (such as is done now when a guild leader leaves the game without appointing a co-leader). Perhaps there could be a restriction on how often a guild can change its name (like, no more than once a year). We can change our cloaks--please let us change our guild name.

If it is anything like EQ1 and guilds, in eq1 if the original creator of the guild left and let someone else take over then could come back at anytime. petition to regain the ownership of the guild and get it. Not sure if it is the same in eq2, but if it is , that would prevent what you are asking.

The original leader has rights to the guild in any player dispute, according to eq2 customer service.
