After playing the trial for a week I decided to go ahead and full subscribe. The problem is I'm not sure which server I want to play on. All the characters I tried during the trial were on Negafen and getting killed by a twink player while questing wasn't fun. So I'm looking to roll PVE. Preferablly I would like a server with a large population, with still a decent amount of players leveling alts etc. I'd also like to play on a server that has a fairly strong raiding community, but isn't so hard to get into for a new player.

Thanks

They key is to create a character at whatever will be your primary playtime. AT the end of character creation, you'll be able to see how heavy the load is on all the servers.

Don't go to Antonia Bayle! Everyone always says do that, but they're crowded right now and experiencing lag.  Try out some of the other servers at that end of the list.

As for raiders, and getting into raid guilds, the key there is know how to play your class well. Understand what your spells and buffs are, when to use them, and how to get the best performance out of what you got.

You might check EQ2Flames.com, the raiders tend to hang out opver there. Look in the various server discussion forums - many raid guilds have recruiting threads and you can see what they're looking for. Note that the class they're desperately recruiting TODAY may not be the same as the classes they want when you level up to 80!

If you enjoy roleplaying, you might want to check out Lucan D`Lere. It's one of 2 RP servers (the other being AB). We don't experience much lag, because we're the smaller of the two.

Antonia Bayle is the highest population server.  They also, however, experience a lot of lag.  If you're a dedicated roleplayer, I would say give it a try anyway (not that Lucan isn't lovely- I play on Kith, Test, and Lucan, and they're a great crowd, although I assume ABayle's is too).  With so many non-roleplayers going to it as it's so heavy, dedicated roleplayers are certainly appreciated.

If roleplaying isn't your thing, I *believe* Butcherblock has the best PVE with no rp involved population.  It does depend on what time you play, though- creating a new character at the core time you play on the highest population server is the best suggestion anyone will ever give you for server population.

(I will claim, however, that Kithicor rules.  And compared to other servers I've tried, our 1-9 channel is... okay, horrible, but slightly less horrible then many other ones.  Our 70-79 does seem a bit more whiny then Test's or Lucan's, though.  Still... although we're not like, TEH RAIDING SERVER!!!, the raiding seems pretty good, and there's almost always at least three pickup raids a week that I see being advertised for (admitedly, sometimes they overlap each other, but hey, it's something).  Tagging along on pickup raids is a good way to get yourself known to raiding guilds, and get a foot in the door... helpful.)

My work schedule varies a lot, so I would be playing at nearly every hour at some point, primarily I would play 5pm onward (Central Time).

I think I'm going to go with Butcherblock though.

I think Crushbone's population level is fairly good. I'm on Guk which has some fairly low peeks at certain times.

Najena is the "unofficial Aussie/Pacific server" and as such has a relatively stable population at all times of the day.

IMO, all servers have a good population from 5 pm to about 11 pm in any USA time zone.
