I was looking at some character profiles on this website and noticed that some had harvesting tools equipped. Do they not know that you don't need them equipped to use them or is there some unexplained benefit i'm not aware of? I have five hotbar slots assigned to them and just click on the one I need. No tool is inserted or removed from the inventory slots. I do keep them physically in a box in my inventory just incase the timer runs out while i'm not in town.

The tools originally did require to be equipped to be used (I had an entire hotbar dedicated to swapping tools as I harvested lol), so those are either toons which haven't been played since the change, or the owners don't know (or don't care SMILEY).

You don't even really need them on your hotbar. Just right click on them in your bags and turn on Autoconsume or autouse whatever it says.

As far as I'm aware you only need to equip them once to attune them and then just leave them in your inventory so that the charm slots are free. Like Azekah1 says, you can just right click and switch on the Auto-consume.

You can auto-consume the harvesting tools? That's hilarious...

Yeah, it doesn't actually consume them it just reapplies the buff so that it is effectively an "until cancelled" buff.

I still do it manually since IM OCD with the order my self buffs appear in the maintained effects window.  Needs to be harvesting tools first, then tradeskill earring effect, ... etc

In the old days you could make a macro that would target the node, equip all your tools and use skill, re-equip your charm slot item.

That was deemed to "hard" so now you just have auto consume.

Well I learned something new.  That wasn't there before, even when you didn't have to equip it anymore, you had to "use" it once every 10 days or something.  Nice change I guess, but yeah making the game still easier is a slippery slope.
