![]() As has been discussed more than once on these forums, (search for Rosethorn), the Spectre Tower from EQ Live, and EQ2 was called Aros 'Thalindor in EQoA. In EQoA it was located on an island in the middle of the Lifire river. By the time of EQ Live, (500 years later), the Lifire had dried up leaving only a lake with the Spectre Tower at the center. 500 years further on, (EQ2), the Lifire again flows over the side of a cliff and to the sea. The Rosethorn Spire was, (according to EQoA lore), discovered by the Koada 'Dal in the century just before Ro's assault on the Elddar Forest. It was constructed by unknown peoples; originally as a tomb for some unknown person, (perhaps constructed by the residents of Akhet Aken?) The Koada 'Dal expanded it, and turned it into a center for the study of magic. Sometime after the Hejira, but before the transformation of the survivors of Takish 'Hiz into the Sul 'Dal, Aros 'Thalindor was attacked by the Teir 'Dal, and it's High Elven defenders poisoned, dying a slow withering death; eventually becoming the Spectres that have inhabited it since EQ Live days. Additionally, in EQ Live there existed a 'mirror image' of Aros 'Thalindor inhabited by Aqua Goblins at the bottom of the lake. The Aqua Goblin tower does not exist in either EQoA, or EQ2. What official lore, (from either EQ Live, EQ2, or developers), is there concerning this Spectre Tower? The Maps of Myrist allude to the EQoA version in the form of a rumor, but other than that, the official lore seems to be silent. If there is no official lore, is there *any* lore (perhaps from the EQ PnP RPG), that exists other than that presented in EQoA? |

![]() That is the tower as we know it in EQ2. I know nothing about EQOA, and, frankly, don't take much stock in it, for temporal reasons (It seems like they took various stories from EQ's history, and jammed them all into one Age for entertainment purposes). You mentioned a similar tower in the water surrounding it in EQ. Neither of these were the only towers known to us. This pic is from Lake Rathetear We also saw the very tops of similar towers in the Southern Desert of Ro. Some say this tower was Ardathium, though even the exact location of Ardathium is in flux from the very account we have of the city (you can read it here). I would say that there is much we don't know about these goblins, spectres, elves, and paladins. As you see, there are always more mysteries than answers for this game

![]() You know, oddly enough, when I read that part about the "mirror image", I suddenly got that very tower that was located underwater in Lake Rathe stuck in my head. |

![]() Before the Lore boards were changed, Vhalen confirmed that there was a mistranslation in the story of Ardathium, and the the word 'northernmost' was a misinterpretation, and *should* be read as 'southernmost'. Also mentioned was the fact that it looked out over the Elddar Forest to the north, rather than to the south. Thereby confirming that the correct location of Ardathium was in South Ro, near the edge of what in EQ Live is the transition area between Southern Ro and Innothule. In EQ2 this area is submerged off the southern end of the Isle of Ro. It is a pity that not everything from the old boards made it onto the new ones, particularly comments by the designers. I could go into the whole thread again, but it is 2 years past now. At any rate the (general) location of Ardathium has been confirmed. |

![]() Good! Now that you mention it, I think I might remember reading over it, but it wasn't something I thought overly useful at the time, and only so much information can be kepts in one's head You'd think it wouldn't be that hard to change the typos in those documents. Huh.
