![]() I was browsing games at the store and noticed Everquest 2 "Classic" for sale with free month subscription. Having played the original Everquest (60 TSK & various alts) I figured what the heck and picked it up. Now I see theres numerous expansions out and given past examples most people are high level, and what alts there are appear to be twinks of mains that rush through content with friends to get better stuff. Thus far I've been pretty much bereft of company aside for the few twinks who want to rush everything to power level themselves. Is it worth continuing and investing the time ? So far I've tried a Shadowknight, Fury, Warden, Mystic & Coercer and can't seem to get a feel for what class I like. In WOW I played a 60 Warrior, Rogue & Shaman... Theres a ton of quests to do and I'm only a casual player with infrequent play time. I've given up other games for that reason because once you reach the highest level theres nothing left to do except raid if you want to progress. I've just began to explore area's inside and out of freeport and almost all the area's are empty. The other thing I've noticed is this game is considerably more difficult then WOW, at least more complicated in certain aspects. I can take mutiple blue con's or lower but one yellow con seems to wipe the floor with my characters. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated |

![]() I'd say that yes, there are still plenty of people using the 'classic' content, though the latest expansion added a new continent and a new starting city so probably more of the new players at the moment may be starting over there (Kelethin). As you level up you'll find more people to group with, and this will also vary with your server, if you're finding your current server abandoned you might try another one. If you do decide you like the game and want to stick around, then it would be worth picking up the Echoes of Faydwer expansion retail version, because the retail version includes all the previous expansions all in one so you won't have to buy them separately. You've definitely got enough content with the original game to get a feel for whether you're going to enjoy yourself or not though. In general you won't find many people grouping much below level 20 or so; the first 20 levels go by so fast that most people just do solo quests and find themselves there already. After 20 or so you will start to find more groups (again there may be differences depending on your server population). You'll find a description of some of the larger solo quest lines here if you're not sure where to go or what to do. If you haven't already, I suggest that you think about what roles you like to play in a group and whether you have any end-game goals like raiding, and what degree of soloability you want in your character. Then have a read over the Frequently Asked Questions thread stickied at the top of this forum, you'll find an overview of all the classes with a summary of their roles in a group, soloability, general focus, etc. This may help you at least understand the differences between similar ones, and pick out a couple you might want to try playing to see if they suit. |
