So the last 2 nights we have run the hole we havent seen ANY body drops for these 2 repeatable quests so I am assuming this is broken?

Also We have had several people that have had their Factions reset to -50,000 on all three after using the illusion. They make some gains and take the illusion off and it restes again to -50,000, While this is obviously a bug (and in my opinion a dumb mechanic) it needs to be fixed.

You're doing it wrong.

All gains and losses while in Illusion form are lost when you remove the Illusion!

The correct way to gain faction in The Hole:

Purchase Illusion.

Grab all quests.

Assume Illusion form.

Do the quests.

Before turn in, REMOVE the Illusion form.

Turn in quests.

Repeat.

As far as the drops go, you're right about that.  NOTHING is dropping at all, making faction grinding 100 times more painful.

What Banditman said +1.

The only real bug in the system currently (not really a bug but a design flaw) is that some of the faction quests autocomplete when you get the last update, making removing the disguise more difficult to time or practical.

These things were changed recently:

  • The quest NPCs are now predicated and will not speak to you if you are wearing the illusion
  • The auto-complete quests had an additional step added that asks you to return to the NPC and turn it in (to prevent faction loss)
  • The 3 repeatable quest body-drop items (emaciated tails, paineel relics, and elemental cores) now require you to be on the quest and are auto-consume and group updates
Based on those things, are the bugs you mentioned still occurring? Were you perhaps expecting the drops while not on the quest?
Finally, the illusion form is only to prevent faction losses--you don't need it unless you're doing something like questing in the Roekillik wing and don't want to lose faction you've gained with Dartain's forces.

Those are all three excellent changes - I may have to wander back into the hole again!

Thanks for the update

I really don't like the changes to the body drop items. It was really nice to be able to spend 3-4 hours just grinding on mobs and then being able to turn in the body drops when you were done (for however many of the body drops you had looted in that time period). Now that's impossible. SMILEY Please change it back.

Sorry, auto-consume is the best way to go. I literally have 25 slots in my bags taken up for quest items, I really didn't need any more.

Over the weekend, four of us had an emaciated tail quest.  We never got a single update.  After a while, we noticed we often got a message saying 'there are no items you can loot'.

Last night we went back to work on some other quests.  I deleted the emaciated tail quest I had, deleted the few tails I had in inventory from when they were actual loot, and picked up a new tail quest.  Again, no updates, and the 'no items you can loot message'.

For you maybe.  For me, and others, that set out to the Hole specifically for grinding mobs and collecting body drops, it's sucks.  I mean, the stack in 100's and you go to turn them in after your through grinding.  So you grind for a couple hours, take up 1, maybe 2 slots in your bags which are then free'd up when you go to turn them in.  I would much rather have that than spend 5 minutes getting to the grind spot, grind for 10 minutes (if that), then spend 5 minutes running back to the turn-in, rinse and repeat.  Seems like a horrible change for those folks who liked grinding on mobs and then doing a mass turn in at the end of it.  It was much more efficient that way and more fun imho.

We ran the three "kill" repeatables probably 10 times each over the weekend . . . we did not get a single "piece" update the entire time.

I ran the Hole today, dual-boxing my inquisitor.

One character had the quests from both the Guardians of the Underfoot and the Defenders of the Seal to gather roekilik tails. The other character didn't.

Killed between 150 - 200 rats. 0 tails dropped.

Definitely NOT the way it used to be.

By the way I don't know if it's a bug with one character being on the quest and the other not or something changing in the last hotfix -- I do know that when killing mobs solo, after last Tuesday's hotfix, I was getting tails even though I was not on the quest, they just would not go in my bags.

Today however, nothing.

D.

Thanks for the details. We'll look into the quests and make sure they're working correctly.

We did find something interesting . . . if you put loot on FFA for all items, drops occur.  I have no idea why.

First I know how the illusion works. Second I know how the quests work. Got the quests and the items are NOT dropping. Period.

The bug with the illusion is this. IF Your toon is bugged and you have say 10k positive faction with all 3. You go into the hole put the illusion on and it changes your faction settings. NOW you kill a few things and you take the illusion off to do the turn ins and all the faction gained has been rest to -50k for all 3 factions. Any and all faction gained BEFORE and DURING the illusion is now gone. So yes I would say starting the hole with decent positive faction and ending it with -50k once the illusion is removed a bug.

In your original post you said "They make some gains and take the illusion off and it restes again to -50,000"

You can't make lasting gains with the illusion on, hence the confusion.

What you just described in this post ... would stink.  That's a massive loss. I have not had that misfortune, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Hopefully those affected have /petitioned.

No it doesn't. Three of us spent almost an hour killing there and didn't get a single update.

These quest's drops are still broken. While it has been possible for us to work around it by manipulating loot options, that doesn't imho lower the priority of fixing the underlying issue. Has this fallen off the radar?

EDIT: Never mind. I see a recent dev response here: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=476092
