Out of curiousity regarding the crafting/harvesting changes, I rolled a character on test last night.

I ran into a quick problem progressing as a crafter:

Quest - Seeking a Profession II

Task - Brew some white tea

Problem - There is not white tea recipe anymore

With the two books you receive to start (artisan II from the queens colony and artisan III from Kaitlin Stonesmith in the Truthbringer compound in Castleview Hamlet), you dont have the needed recipe to complete this task.

I do like the new harvesting system, it's kind of cool getting a bunch of traits from a single harvest.

On further investigation, the recipe is in Artisan 7.

Given that the purpose of these quests is to introduce new crafters to the system (and provide their recipe books), this might be a problem.  Not certain though.

Third stage of the quest calls for maknig a Vengeance of the Fallen at a chemistry table.

The recipe is not available through Artisan IX.

This isn't particular to LU 24, I ran into this problem on the Live servers last week when I started an alt. What's also frustrating is that the quest rewards for the series are the Artisan Essentials books, which you pretty much need to buy (at least Artisan Essentials 7-9) if you are to complete the quest. So completing the quests gives you a book you've already bought at each step...

Ahh, hadn't realized that.

Last time I leveled up a crafter was around DOF launch and I recalled the quests working then (albeit a pain in the neck in some cases).

The issue is that the Seeking a Profession quest hasn't been rewritten yet.  Too many other fixes and such have had priority, I think. The tea was moved in levels, but not moved to a later step in the quest, where it'd match with the books you were being given, but even if you get past that, step 3 cannot be completed right now on Test, as it requires a poison that is no longer in the game.  We've been telling the new testers who come to join us to just skip the quest until it is patched, as it is making folks a bit crazy/frustrated.  (The quest is not necessary in order to progress, it has just been a nice way to get some low level tradeskill books for free.)

I just want that freaking quest to be deletable. You get to step 5 and you are already out of T1, and making a shield for a mage is weird just to finish the quest.plus some of those items are total pains. (well, before subless) I guess with no subcombines it won't be so hard to go finish that quest line. But it still should have been deletable.

It needs to be redone.  Period.  I hope the tradeskill dev has it on his list.

The rewards of the harvesting bag and the crafting tunic are very good for novice crafters.  Also getting the books at each level is great too.  What is the point of getting the books for free when you need to buy them in order to do the frigging quest?  Good for selling?  Well, uh... much easier if you just hand me the copper, thanks.

I'll say it again.  I sincerely hope a redo of the tradeskill quest is in the works.  If not, well, the devs of this game just lost a heck of a lot of my respect.

Read Niami's post again. The devs ARE AWARE that the quest hasnt been update yet, and they do plan to fix it,they just have many more pressing issues they need to fix before the LU goes live then being able to get the artisan books for free. For example crafted bows being two handed and equiping in a wepon slot instead of the ranged slot. Please be patient and let them work on the more game breaking things first.  If your playing on test server you're there to test things, find out what doesnt work and needs to be fixed before it goes to live. So, you should expect that not everyting will work right away. As for not being able to delete the quest, ill have to log in to double check that one, but non-deletable quests dont count towards your total in your quest journal.

Some do, mostly related to access quests. Tradeskill tasks and writs don't. Something like A Calling in the Forest does, or at least it did for the longest time until I finally finished it and I couldn't delete it.
