Uh yeah, they don't release enough bugridden patches already without you riding them? Shut up and wait.

But they shouldnt, hence the expanded testing window and methods being utilized for this release.

Don't get me wrong man I can't wait for this to be in the game, but you have to agree a little patience to get a good quality product > than new functionality with massive loopholes in it.

While we are also quite excited about Mentoring, we want to make sure the system is stable and enjoyable before it goes to Live servers.

I vote for "take your time and do it properly". Changing/fixing features after changes have gone live is much more difficult and gets more people upset than those few who don't have the patience to wait a few days.

I am just interested in how the scalability is going to work for gear. Like my robe adds power regen now, will it still add the same regen if I mentor a lvl 10, or will it be cut down by a certain % to compensate?

I am curious about this as well, however this seems to have something to do with the way the tiered system works, it seems that in order to make a new piece of armor they have some sort of core algorithm that takes a number of parameters that allows the new item to be generated.  One of those parameters is the level of the item, I am sure I am over simplifying this, but it seems like they will use that same procedure to determine the new stats of the item only changing the level of the item.

So my guess would be that it depends, most likely you will get some regen, same regen or no regen at all depending on what level the item is and what level you are mentoring too.

I am quite curious what my mentored gear will look like should be interesting.

While we're mentoring well we be able to get lower level writs? Or are we stuck on the high level ones?Being able to get the lower level writs would be awesome for smaller guilds to include everyone on a guild night or something of the sorts.

I REALLY REALLY hope to coolhandjosh.I'm currently the only 35+ player in my guild and as such don't get that much of an opportunity to group with guild members. I hope that i'll be able to do the lower level writs again if i'm mentoring a lower level guildee SMILEY

I'm really excited about the patch but I can wait till its fully tested. Can you imagine how annoying it would be to read in the patch notes that mentoring is in, then to go try it out and discover it doesn't work for you. If for this reason alone more testing would be good.On the other side would it be possible to get a tentative realese date (suitably padded so we can be plesantly surprised with an early release)?Lorical

No. City writs are given to you based on your actual level. But, the person you are mentoring will get writs based on her level and you can assist her in completing her writs if you like. Also, we had some guild level access writs that were low level in our books, but we mentored lower level players and went in and had a great time.~Eva

While I cant wait for this to be in either I also want them to get it right. I'd hate for them to rush it into a patch and then discover some horific imbalence that requires them to pull it and roll back the servers or cause a long downtime. this would not only cause alot of people to be upset but would probably delay the release of this feature even longer. give it time it will come.

I vote for trashing the whole mentoring system.  What a waste of resources.

Amen.

It amazes me how people complain to high heaven when stuff is released bugged, yet complain when they have to wait :smileysurprised:

Sometimes...

The last thing I want to do is play the same content over and over and ding 50 never seeing alot of the other content beacuse I was metoring a friend, or even worse required to mentor a guildmate.  I can see this being ok if your already 50 and aren't gaining experience anymore, but for anyone under 50 I see it as a waste of time.  If I really want to play with low level friends I'll start an Alt.

Well you will never be "required" to mentor anyone (unless it is your guild saying this and if so you have the choice to leave guild).  Just because this is not a benefit to you and how you play the game please realize some of us play differently and it is pretty obvious there are a whole lot of us looking forward to this.

For me this is far from a waste of time.  This allows me to again group with a lvl 25 friend of mine.  Your "make an alt" just does not work for that type of thing.  If I get less experience (or not experience) I am ok with that as long as I am having fun grouping with people I enjoy.

As far as doing the same content over and over again..... there is a whole lot of content I have never seen that is well under my current level.  I could hunt for a long time as a mentor and never repeat content I did originally.

I like doing the same content over and over again. Some EQ1 content I have probably done literally hundreds of times now and in EQ2 there are many quests I have done more than half a dozen times with different characters already.

If you buy a msuic CD do you just listen to it the one time? Do you hate seeing an episode of The Simpsons you saw already a few months back? Did you just play one set of tennis back in 1986 and then go "well that's some sport content I never want to do again"?

I often enjoy EQ1 or 2 content more the second or third time round than i did the first time, and mentoring is going to make it even more fun going round again.
