I've seen a few people mention that they are able to Cheap Shot for the stun, Stalk, swing around the back of the mob while it's still stunned and pull off a Shadow Blade.

What I know about Cheap Shot is that the mob stays stunned until someone hits it, or for a set period of time (usually a few seconds), whichever comes first.

My question (finally) is how the hell do I turn OFF auto-attack fast enough after the Cheap Shot (as not to break the stun) to be able to hit Stalk and walk behind it? Even if I turn off attack while the Cheap Shot bar is going, the fact that combat arts initiates auto-attack prevents me from pulling off mid-combat stealth moves when soloing.

Any suggestions?

Yes, I realize that, but as soon as Cheap Shot lands, auto-attack begins again. It's THAT auto-attack I'm having trouble turning off in time so that I do not hit the mob after it is stunned.

I do this all the time, the trick is to turn off auto attack while before cheap shot actually goes off, if you dont turn off auto attack before cheap shot, it will break the stun...  as soon as cheap strike hits, just jump behind your enemy and hit shadowblade, this will do the shadowblade attack while the enemy is still stunned, and put you back into auto attack automatically

Turn off auto attack and THEN hit cheap shot.  Works like a charm.

My future-assassin is still low level, but I know the tactic from using something similiar with my Dirge.  If you click auto-attack (to turn it off) about half-way during the "casting" of Cheap-Shot, you'll miss out on a minimal amount of regular attacks and also stop attacking before it lands the stun.

Hope that helps ya.

i've never been able to pull off this exact combo, maybe to do with lag, but the stun ALWAYS wears off before i can pull off the SB. so i tent to just stun, stalk, then use our front attack with a knockdown (forgot the name).

Same here... Level 21 and can never seem to get behind the enemy in time...

Anyhow, my curent strat is to sneak up, open with a shadow blade, impale, bleed, pierce, cheapshot, stalk (or concealing strike if I'm in a group), cutthroat.

That does some pretty massive damage in a short time, and usually brings the mob down enough that continuing to use pierce, quike strike and impale will finish it off before shadow blade recycles.

Well, if any of you are using bleed and it hits the mob while your cheap shot is on that will break it.  I use this tactic frequently and had a little trouble with it at first but it just takes a little bit to get the hang of.  I found it was easier for me to hit the auto attack of before I hit the cheap shot, then strafe as I'm hitting stalk and then queue up shadow blade as I'm moving behind the mob.

I thought stalk does damage to the mob? hence you cant do:  stun - stalk - shadowblade

stalk doesn't do any damage that I've noticed - though it will cause you to aggro a targeted mob before combat

I do this combo all the time soloing. i think having cheap shot at least app3 increases the stun timing. it also depends on the mob which might have a higher resistance to the stun, so the stun is shorter duration.

But I basically do the following:

1. click the attack button to turn off attack
2. cheap shot and immediately rotate around the back of the mob
3. HUNT (doesnt seem to break cheap shot), or use Stealth (takes longer but I did before I got hunt)
4. Shadow Blade or Ambush for the hit.

It is a bit tricky on timing, and its 50/50 proposition, but with practice you can pull it off and it makes a big difference when you solo.

Great help!  I tried this a couple times myself and just could not get it to go off.  Your advice and the addition of Hunt to my skills made all the difference in the world.  I am getting Ambush and Shadowblade off in almost every solo encounter now.  Thanks bro.

No need to get behind the target for ambush though, you only need to be stealthed and facing the target for that.
I use my stun then go past my target and use a flank attack like backstab or shrouded strike (for another stealth).
I think most will develop their own personal style  in this   SMILEY

You need to use Stalk in order to Shadowblade after a Cheapshot.  Sneak/Hunt takes way too long to pull it off.  Even so it's pretty marginal as the timing is really tight.  You can't really count on it, so I've gone to just using Cheapshot (turn off attacking) - Shrouded (turn off attack) - Ambush.  Although Shrouded breaks the stun, half the time you'll get the Ambush off before the mob hits you.  Even with just Shrouded the damage is pretty decent and you can basically count on it every time, whereas sometimes Shadowblade just doesn't pan out.

correct, i should have said Stalk not Hunt. I don't even have hunt yet. Stalk is the quick one.

I was doing this a ton last nite and have more info to add for when you solo. It generates more DPS.

1. Backshot mob with carbonite arrow
2. Blow off tons of attacks
3, Stop attacking
4. Cheap shot
5. Start rotating around while you press Stalk
6. Shadow Blade the mob from behind

If you open with the Shadow Blade, you'll never get off the Backshot while soloing. So this technique really increases your damage while soloing. Give it a try out, I was loving it last nite.

I do not get it, it woun't work, you stopm attacking before cheapshot, but using cheapshot will autotrigger autoattack again? Shouldn't you stopattack after cheapshot?

Has anyone tried to do a macro on this? It would be a great macro if it could work.

Even using stalk it takes good timing.  I mean you need to be stealthing up as soon as you hit the cheap shot and moving as well.

Is cheap shot the only stun we can use to solo? I thought we got more stuns... what does knowcking the mob to the ground do? Or is it Brigands that get the stuns! Thanks.

While the bar is filling up for Cheapshot to trigger, you can turn off auto attack (goes for any attack).  An attack triggers auto attack when you first hit it, not when it actually goes off.  As for Cheapshot, I don't believe it actually triggers auto attack at all, which is why you can do it before hitting it (but it's bad practice, since you'll need to be used to turning it off before the attacks and others like shrouded strike need it in the middle of activation).

cheapshot does not trigger autoattack again.I do cheapshot (while loading - hit "~") -> stalk (while walking behind the mob) -> shadow blade
