![]() I'm working towards the Ranger class and am trying to decide if it's worthwhile to continue towards the Woodworking craftsman class as well. I've seen posts claiming it is hard to make money as a Woodworker and I've also heard that it's not really worthwhile to craft your own bows and arrows. This is disappointing to me and I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this combination (Ranger/Woodworker) for themselves and can provide supporting or contradicting advice. Any advice is welcome.

![]() Your artisan class really doesn't matter a whole lot to your adventuring class. Basically pick the artisan class that most interests you. Jewelers can make scout app3/4 runes so that would be just as worthwhile as making bows and arrows.

![]() I'm a 26 Ranger/23 Woodworker and so far it's been going well. There are a few items that, as a woodworker, make reliable money (paper, quills and staves - interm componets that other crafters need). The best really is making your own arrows. It takes time, but it's a LOT cheaper. You can sell them to non-woodworking rangers for a profit (or to just keep you going). Being able to make your own attunable fir bow is also nice, and I imagine as I go I'll make some commisioned items (a wand here or there). Cost to produce 1 Iron Bodkin or Hunting Arrow: 1.2c per I sell them for 3 or 4c (2c less than from an NPC merchant) to other PCs. Here's the Iron Arrow breakdown: 20 arrows = 1 fletching + 1 stave + 1 arrowhead + 1 fuel = 78 + 78 - 140 + 6 = 22c or 1.2c per arrow. 3 arrowheads = 1 iron bar + temper + fuel = 30 + 24 + 6 = 60c. sell two of the 3 arrow heads for 1s each: nect cost of 1 arrowhead: -140c 1 iron bar = 1 raw + 1 temper + 1 fuel = 0 + 24 + 6 = 30c 1 fletching = 1 yarn + 1 wash + 1 fuel. = 48 + 24 + 6 = 78c 1 stave = 1 lumber + 1 resin + 1 fuel = 30 + 24 + 6 = 60c 1 lumber = 1 raw + 1 resin + 1 fuel = 0 + 24 + 6 = 30c It takes 6 combines to make 20 arrows, which is still pretty good when you consider it. I average one combine a minute (I go for pristine on everything), so if I have components and take a slow hour out of my week, I can make a few full stacks of arrows. I just estimated the cost of Carbonite arrows, and it looks like it'll cost me about 10 times as much to produce them, but there's a small markup because I can't buy cheap washes, resins, an tempers. So it'll cost 30-40 and I'll need to sell them for around 50c, depending on the deal I get. Still, that's not bad. This last evening I made 1.5gold selling tier 2 and 3 paper and quills. Also not bad.

![]() Are the carbonite arrows you make a lot better than the makeshift ones you get for almost no effort and time?

![]() It's not damage as much as the Bodkin are higher accuracy than normal arrows, and the Hunting do slashing damage rather than peircing (which is useful some times). Whether or not the makeshift are better than normal arrows, I can't tell. My hunch (unsupported) is that they're lower accuracy but do the same damage.

I have finally decided to start working on tradeskills, albiet, it took a few months... lol, and I can honestly say, Woodwork as a ranger, almost doesnt seem worth it, when buying arrows is alot less time consuming, rember when arrows are uber easy to make, and fast as hell also, with a good fletching skill, I had a 204 fletching skill by lvl 24 in EQ1 and was making uber arrows, very fast, with little cost, as apposed to buying them. Then the Endless Quiver AA made it even better. I am not saying back brining back AAs, I hated em, made super power players, but specialized skills are the right ticket, give us a specialized skill at 50 or 45 for Endless Quiver, then we would be set.. lol
