we do not pump out as much dps. we are more of a utility class, we're made to strengthen a grp our buffs are some of the best in game, and any grp a Dirge is in you will see a sizable stat increase

err Andersonim have u played a Dirge after LU 13? u must say: our buffs where some of the best to the point where the revamp comes. after that i got the great crying. Mana Song? this Coercer around the corner makes better ones with a 10 lvl lower spell. Poison/Disease resist? Defiler got u job. The Group Proc? a Joke. aso. The only thing a Dirge can buff better (and that makes my Dirge landing mosttimes in the Tank Group of a Raid) is the Hate Buff.

The Dirges Job is to Debuff, our Group Buffs are only a small Extragimmick.

And to come back to the Main ask of this Thread: DPS of a Dirge isnt great, not even good. BUT, and here comes the way a Dirge makes indirectly DMG: With this mix of our Debuffs and some of our Buffs (like i sayed before the Groupbuffs are not the best, but the Mix does it) we give the Group a higher DPS output.

Umm Yeah The coercer gets a larger one but they now stack.

I know a lot of healers out there get stoneskin but guess what... those seem to stack too.

As far as DPS goes.  yes we can do some good DPS.  Nothing close to a ranger or assasin, but thats not our job.  I consistantly put up number of 400-700 DPS in short fights where Im in DPS mode with the buffs.  When were in long epic fights its down around 300.  That because I conserv power to keep the debuffs up and RES options available.

hmm not sure what level you are since lu 13 but i know for a fact my bria's is better than coercers, also since clarity is now group only, and there is always a shortage of coercers, it's pretty much a non issue.  as for buffs being useless, PoS and Screeching Elusion are easily two of the most sought after buffs in the game, it's all in your style of play.  Because of the extremely hard to resist quality of our debuffs and the utility of ourgroup buffs, my normal exp group in t6 is Dirge, Brig, Inq, Fury, Necro, Necro.  Instead of packing in fighters, i tank evertyhing in my cobalt armor, no fables and we've never really had a probelm killing anything, we do shimm cit, poet's palace and the epic in clefts with ease.

Just my $.02

Brias at Master one is 37 per tick.  Im not sure what the coercer one is at.. but at times it does seem to refresh faster.  ONE bad side to breeze... Its a hugh agro draw.  I know others have seen the caster get strange hate when they have lots of hoola hoops out on the raid crew.

Do not make a dirge expecting huge dps, expecting to be a buff battery for the group or raid you are in. Also at higher lvls and in raiding expect to be used as a rezzer during raids, the dirge combat rez has a quick recast compared to others.

You know the joke that dirges can go afk during a raid? Not entirely true.

Dirges need to debuff an encounter. Then they can go afk during a raid.

Your damage output is really pathetic compared to any other dps class, I would say even worse than the Illusionist (who can do some halfway decent dps with their pets and that damage proc of theirs).

That being said, their debuffs are godly, and if you can stand a lower dps, they are a great class to play.

Maybe for less than 60 seconds.  Remember our main debuffs are on one minute timers and suck manna from our pool... so I guess if its a timid raid you could go afk... But if its a tough fight... and we go afk... Ok Debuffs up... ooops quick bio.... RES the healer... NOW .. ooops... too late.

Yes the chanters have a power regen, and the defilers have poison/disease, and blah blah blah, but, the point is, while u would need both of those classes to get the benefit, you could also just get a dirge and have the entire package in one. In the MT grp for raids, where space is limited...we come in very handy..
