What has happened to the economy (on Guk)? I usually leave my seller alone, knowing full well the prices on most things swing way up and way down depending on how many of the item are available. I hadn't logged him in in a few days, but today I had a few things to add so I logged him in to find only a few sales over the last 4-5 days...I started comparing his asking prices and found that nearly every item he had had been undercut by a HUGE margin...I mean lower tier rares that had been selling for 50-60 gold now at less than 20...collection pieces that ranged from just a few gold to nearly a plat were selling in single digits. I know that adept 1 spells were made less rare and I have adjusted for that, but now I am finding them just a few silver over vendor pricing....I have a theory that people are dumping their stuff they have been hordeing onto the market to get cash to buy new things when the expansion comes out....but I don't remember it happeneing last expansion...although my memory isn't what it once was....A strong economy is essential in making an MMO work....I needs me coin!

I would think it's a simple case of supply and demand. Since leveling is easier, lower tier rares will be worth less, because less people will be buying them.

Bleap, you might not have noticed but between GU48 and GU49 there was a Live Event which involved sending people out to go and harvest items.  Only common items were accepted by the quest giver.  Any rares found were the possession of the harvester.  Any shineys one happened to come across while harvesting for the event were also not taken by the quest giver and so those, too, became the possession of the harvester.  There were a lot more people harvesting for the quest than normally do.  The rare harvest rate remained unchanged, thus more rare harvests were obtained.  Shiney spawns had been increased in the last few GUs (I forget which ones exactly) making it a lot more common to fine shineys than in the past.  While out harvesting for the quest, more shineys were being found. For the adept Is, I'm not sure you've ever noticed they put in something called Release Notes when they add in a new GU.  One of the specific mentions in the notes for GU49 (the one which went live last week, I'm sure you noticed the servers were down a couple hours) was an increase in the drop rate for adept Is to offset the faster leveling the implemented for levels below 70.Also, since the leveling speed has increased, fewer players are bothering to equip for high prices in the lower levels where outleveling something happens a lot quicker now.So.. read your own subject.  More supply with the same demand equals lowered prices.- Rares had an increase in supply from the Harvest quests tied to the Guild Hall Live Event.- Shineys had an increase in supply from an increase in spawn rate -and- because more players were out harvesting for the harvest quests.- Adept Is have an increase in supply from an increase in their drop rate.Reduced demand with more supply reduces prices even further.- Fewer characters looking for lower level upgrades mean less demand for lower level rares and adept Is.
