Aoe abilities in general is bruiser, but overall monk is a better choice. Slightly higher dps, slightly better survivability, better single target agro.

depends on what you are looking for, Bruisers have AE ability but it does have a certain amount of cooldown so you can't go from one group to another blowing them up. zerks and SK can do it quicker with less downtime in the AE abilities.

but the downside is you can't get from front to the back of a zone as easily with the plate classes, you can be more selective and move around easier with the leather classes. zerk is one of the easiest since the auto attacks are the classes strong point you can virtually solo without even watching the monitor for the most part.

None of the mechanical differences between monks and bruisers are significant enough to matter--pick the one that you have more fun playing. They feel a bit different, but neither has any advantage over the other that can't be compensated-for with the right gear choices. Both brawlers are arguably the best farming characters in the game once you gear-up, as they can FD-flop past all the trash and surgically remove named MOBs. Neither brawler is an optimal choice for massive AoE encounters, but once you can solo epic MOBs you no longer have to care.

Feign Death is among the most powerful abilities in the entire game, especially when soloing.

As for soloing bruiser have a little edge over monk especialy at low AA. Bruiser heal is bether, bether AoE and bruiser epic is bether for soloing purpose then monk one IMO. All that beeing said bruiser and monk have so very few difference it its clear SoE wish they just had made 1 of them. NEither one is real bether at anything its all marginal difference and they change every major patch-expension.

Solo I would run monk over bruiser due strictly to the amount of haste and refresh of CAs. I really cant stand soloing on my bruiser in low level, Monk is way more interactive / faster paced.

Soloing haste is the major difference.
