Hi,

hope someone can help me here, little bit frustrated SMILEY

I was running EQ2 fairly well (ok, before RoK came out) on the following system:

- Athlon XP 3800+ (2,4ghz), 2GB Ram, ATI X850XT PE 256MB, Windows 2000SP4.

Now i am running:

- Athlon x2 5000+ (@3,2ghz each), 4GB Ram, GF8800GT 512 MB, WinXP SP3 (with the /3GB Option and /usepmtimer enabled in Boot.ini)

Guess what ? The Performance just got worse. I'm using the Omegadrivers ver 169.21 unmodified for the 8800gt.

Is there any special setting in the drivers or in eq2 itself - or what i am missing here ?

Modelldetails and Animations on highest setting, textures on high, partikel effects 1 per charakter, no shadows, Lights on High.

Regards, theriatis.

Unfortunately, it seems that you're better off going back to your first computer. The better computer you have, the worse EQ2 performs. Post after post after post about it here in this forum.

Other than that, try checking the reuse shaders option under performance. That is supposedly one of the things that is meant to help.

When using the 8800 specifically, you will want to set the game to reuse vertex buffers.  This option is available under the performance options in the display menu and should be a checkbox.  Try turning that feature on to see if your performance improves.
