The addition of epic weapons in EQ2 has been a topic of speculation and debate ever since players learned that they were being worked on. Precious few details, however, have been leaked, even to the point that they have not been seen on Test yet. Over the next few days this will change -- expect to see various fan site writeups giving you more previews of epic weapons that are being released with GU42 next week.
Meanwhile, however, EQ2TC has a topic even more cloaked in mystery. One that has been such a well-kept secret that, unlike epics, there aren't dozens of threads on the subjects in the forums ... yet.

THAT'S why Grimwell giggled maniacally when I grumbled about Crafting Profession hats!

Probably have to be max ally in tradeskill faction to start the quest for the cloaks.

Nah, you just have to have reached level 80 in every crafting class and then respec'ed, and have completed the Peacock, Claymore, and Sword of Destiny quest lines. Hadn't occurred to me to require max tradeskill faction, but I'll be sure to hotfix that in now!

The bottom right one would look so good on a jeweler.  Suddenly I'm very happy that at least 2 of the crafters are now 80.And one last thing....GIMME!!/shudders about max ally thought

uh oh now I will have to decide between my lon dragon cloak or my crafter cloak (hopefully the armorer one looks good)If I had to take my guesses  I would think tailors is top left, has a leather look , possible prov in top center but can't be sure SMILEY, top right might be woodworker has what looks like arrow heads strapped to it, bottem left could be jeweler , bottom center not a stong clue carpenter perhaps, and bottem right could be sage with the runic marks on it.

I know, very pessimisstic of me...just a bit grouchy that the new crafting goodies which have been added I can't get to.  Mostly due to time and RL.  Don't have the time to sit and spend hours on writs as others can, and haven't had the time to level my Carpenter to get the new goodies there. But it's a very good thing that there are new recipes and such to be had by those who're able to.Thank you again, Domino and your team, for these.

You forgot the Deseption(aka Prismatic) quest line as well. So I guess it will require 2 hotpatchs. SMILEYSMILEY

Domino, you have a LOAD of love from us crafters... but im not sure its that much to forgive you for that hehe.  Sounds exciting.  I do hope they're attainable for low adventure level crafters.  Way back in the beginning of EQ2 it was said that you could do EITHER tradeskill OR adventure, but several quests and things have gone against that which is a bit sad

Oh I'm SO excited..... :bounce  :bounce :bounce

....oh wait..... my highest tradeskill is only level 53 and it took me since game launch to get to there.  With working full time plus overtime ..... having 2 active (teen) kids.... marriage....RL obligations....health issues.... Ok I'll get mine in about 2 years ... if the trade skill cap isn't raised before then. SMILEY<img src=

Awsome look and a HUGE Thank You to all the dev's who took time on this.  Could there possibly be a mini epic, maybe the intro epic that starts at level 40 - 50 so you could get some use out of it before hitting the main epic level 80?  I never understood why you only get to use the first 'epic' (weapon) for only a short time and it is mainly just a turn in piece for THE Epic 'weapon'.  Just an idea SMILEY<img src=

Reminds me of capping classes in SWG trying to unlock Jedi back in the day...  then they just gave everyone a Jedi...

lotta bad memories from that game...

Quit your job. Divorce your husband. And, send the kids off to work in one of Martha Stewart's manufacturing plants. See.. it ain't that complicated. And, people say I'm not helpful! pffffttt!!SMILEY

A lot of things that were said "way back in the beginning" is no longer even remotely applicable.  In fact the one certaintainty in MMO's is that change will happen.  The old idea of having crafting as a sepertate entity within the everquest world was a horrible idea.  Crafting was nothing but a boring treadmil in a tiny cellar.  The new quests are fantastic and are probably the best thing that has ever happened to the tradeskill world.  I hope the crafting cloaks have some real group interactions as well as the solo work.

Better yet, get your wife and kids hooked, then let your kids choose between 'normal' chores and harvesting for your crafters SMILEY

Ooooh, I like that idea. It's like free mini-botters to fill your bags with rares and goodies. SMILEY  Hehe, seriously though, I hope it doesn't require faction though, because at 150 a writ, that takes a ridiculously long time.  I'd rather have it be something like.. make this rare item, then make another dozen of these, combine those rare items into a mega-rare item, then race an npc master-crafter to finish a timed writ to get the last piece, then put em all together and trade em for your cloak. SMILEY (ok, so I made that up, but seriously.. plz no faction status requirements!)
