I hope that IGN has made a mistake and linked a screenshot from EQLive, by accident.Cuz this looks like a flat, 2D sprite on a bland 3D background.http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/art...11002206024.jpg

well the environment can be eq2 drawings not on high settings.... but monster is completely 2D so doesnt seem to belong eq2... even in extreme performance those mobs are complete 3D

Maybe EQ2 has bought the rights from the game Incubation, the monster is like those 15 years ago.http://www.bluebyte.net/battleisle-.../phase4.asp?id=

That's a drolvarg, and it's definately from EQ2.I shudder to think about what graphics setting they took that screenshot at though.

![]() Thats not an EQ2 screenshot. You couldn't make EQ2 look that bad even if you tried.

You can make it look worse. I know; I used to have to play on Extreme Performance, before I got my machine upgraded.

Yeah that certainly looks like a drolvarg to me, but yeah that's at poor settings.

I dunno...I see shadows, specular lighting, and high-quality textures on the architecture. Maybe the model isn't quite finished? (But in that case, I'm not sure why a screenshot of it would be released to the press...) /boggle

the background does look like eq2... but the mob? never... maybe a very early stage throughout development where they used unfinished mobs to test some basic stuff? or someone photoshopped a eq1 into a eq2 background?

Looking closer, I see the shadows. I really hope this is a very early picture and not something recent. Even in lowest settings the drolvag should still have 3d models.

Pretty sure that's EQ1.Shadows are not an indicator of which EQ it is, as EQ1 has shadows as well.

The monster looks like it's been cut and pasted onto the background. Notice how sharp the textures and lighting are on the architecture, then look at the monster. They don't match at all.

Umm. Yeah it looks 3D, but I agree it looks like pre-finish or lowered character texture settings.
And uhhh....they need to redo those pants' texture badly. >.>

So its quite possible to set the options so the mobs look like absolute trash and the world is stunning if you so choose. |

If you look at the shading and where the lighting is onthe background, theres a torch behind the monster, the shadows should be facing forward (infront of the monster) if the lighting is in back of it...yet the shadows look as if theres a light right infront of it. Also, even on "BAD" wax person mode in eq2, the creatures never have that "sharp" outline like that. when you bring down the graphics, in eq2 it makes things fuzzier and blurrier and more like "melted wax"...this is very sharp although flat. I think it's either an unfinished (beta) model in a finished background or someone cut and pasted. |

Looks like a really crappy screenshot of a drolvarg on the entry bridge to Karnor's. Definitely EQ2 though.

![]() it has to be eq2 because if you know Karnors Castle that looks like the middle cordor, just past the first bridge, next to the steps leading up to named. WHICH kind of scares me because you would think they would change the layout, but then again i did just smoke a bowl and it could be brittney spears room. Arktanion

Maybe somebody made a promo screenshot by taking a mob from one shot and placing it on this background. It looks too fake. Maybe an early promo shot made its way over there, because the engine wasn't yet running but they had to present something
