In contrast to some of my earlier posts which I still stand by by the way, here's some positive aspects of being a ranger.Top of the list has to go with mentoring. Yes every class can mentor but a well kitted out ranger with masters/adept3's and 50 AA's is a killing machine when we mentor down. Screw tanks, screw healers, load up on the arrows and get to work.Like I said i'm planning on playing some new classes and intend to duel box and powerlevel them, believe me my ranger will come in VERY handy for this.2nd positive has to go with how cool ranger tend to look when perched on top of a rock and raining down arrows onto mobs.3rd positive, the less DPS we do the less wannabe rangers you'll see. Weird but I dont like to see too many of my class running around.

I still like just the most basic aspect of it - firing arrows with a cool longbow. I think one niche they could fit us in would be the concept of 'accuracy,' and that could manifest itself in several ways, from specific debuffs (move speed, attack speed, offensive skills, casting skills) linked to targeted areas to different damage types (skills that enchant your arrows for a short duration to deliver cold dmg, etc) or different ways of delivering damage. Accuracy could be a good concept to re-design us around, b/c we should be the only class capable of putting an arrow thru and apple at 50 yards. I also think we should be able to fire a bow further than anyone else, but that's just me.

Anyway... I still like being a scout, though it'd be nice if stealth still meant something. I like moving around in combat and sneaking. I like delivering big physical damage, especially in the role of artillery. The concept hasn't lost its appeal to me, but the implementation is falling short of where I'd like to see it in this particular game.

Accuracy seems a cool concept, I really think rangers like you said should be the kings of ranged attacks and basically no class should come close.I'd also love to see enchanted arrows being brought in, similar to posions and of course being a crafter I would like them crafter made.I read once that crossbows were in the beta, whilst not quite rangeresque maybe allow rangers to only use bows and have assasins using crossbows would be pretty cool.
