Hmm.. have to say i disagree with you here, at least from a grouping standpoint. If anything, these latest combat changes actually are even FURTHER from the "holy trinity" that was so infamous from EQ1. Basicly, any of the 6 subclasses within each archtype will be capable of filling their role in a group. The problem in EQ1 was that only a select few classes had abilities (CH, slow, tank) that were absolutely vital to the success of a group, wheras EQ2 is continually moving in the direction of allowing every subclass perform their vital duty with similar effectiveness.
So, MY answer would be: you are playing EQ2, not EQ1, and i for one am not TOO worried about the group dynamics that you hated so much in EQ1.
