Once you have activated the traps, they are not always clickable. Some I can click and get the update, but some do not become clickable to pick up and get update. For some reason, its been inconsistant for me. Some just remain a thing that appears, but no clickable region.
Edit: Ok, I had to go back about 8,9 times for stacks to try over and over for clickable spots. That was very "want to pull your hair out" kinda situation....just fyi. 
Most would not show a clickable thing on the spawned glowing circle. Finally finished it, but took way too long to get any of the updates.
