The "shop now" button has always been there, I've played eq2x for a while now (2 boxin) and it was there on both character select screens, nowt new. As for the welcome screen it appears, I click the X and it goes away not a big deal.
I very much doubt they will move it, because thats not conducive with the business model ATM.
