Sony,
Time has passed and I have decided I no longer want to play EQ2 in a PVP environment. I would prefer to continue playing the game for its PVE content. Because of your server transfer policy which doesn't permit transfers off the server, I've elected to quit EQ2. My only option is to delete characters and start over. This is unacceptable due to the investment I have in crafters/characters.
I'd gladly pay for tranfers OFF the pvp server. Don't care anything about titles, pvp gear, etc. Simply strip away PVP related character items. Unfortunately this isn't possible. Instead, this policy is costing EQ2 12 character transfers at $25ea and a customer paying $29.99/mo.
I hope you reevaluate this policy some time in the future and find better ways to accomodate your customers changing playstyles.
It is and isn't a coding issue. Could they do it? Yes but look at the head aches. Either A) allow PvP gear (which is pretty kick butt in many respects) to transfer with the toon putting PvEers at a disadvantage or simple major envy issue. B) make the toon transfer naked due to the different mechanics and stats on gear and have the people cry "why did I transfer anyway, everything I worked for is gone?!?!?!". Rather than create either one of these headaches its simply easier for them to so "nope", and I can't say I blame them.
As for Beta, that is a custom testing environment that is not designed for longterm server continuity or community health. Yeah you can make a server that is PvE/PvP like Beta but EQ2 never has had that and never will. You have PvE servers, PvP servers and now battle ground. To try and compare a Beta to Live server is like trying to compare a concept car to what you can buy at the dealer.
