And to think I've been getting frustrated at the guy who built my new computer for me. I've had him running in circles describing the problem I've been having with these memory issues...
Just had a new computer built and the only requirement I had for him was "stupid fast". Well, he really did that and I have been able to run EQ2 at all max settings, including shadows at 1920x1200 averaging 40fps. It really is a beautiful game to play...for the 5-10 minutes I get to actually play it. I crash to desktop every 3rd zoning or so. Sometimes even just standing in the guildhall.
This is the error I get most of the time: Application ran out of memory when requesting 146416 bytes (limit: 2048 MB, current: 828 MB).
My computer specs are as follows:
Windows XP Professional 32 bit SP3 (current updates)
Intel Pentium Dual-Core @4Ghz
NVidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ (current drivers)
OCZ PC2 6400 4GB RAM (2x2GB)
Drive 1: 150GB 10,000 RPM Raptor (EQ installed here)
Drive 2: 300GB 7,200 RPM
Drive 3: 300GB 7,200 RPM
I can't think of what else it has in it or what might be important, but thats all I can think of at the moment. But now that I know I'm not alone and this is an EQ related problem, I can stop bugging my computer guy about it.
Odd thing is, I can still use my 'old' computer and not get these problems at all and its just a generic Compaq Presario. I upgraded the memory (4GB), video card (ATI Radeon) and sound card, but other than that, straight out of the box as purchased from Best Buy about 3 yrs ago.
